If I were you, I would chose FZ1.

Both are very very similar bikes but am not sure why the CB1000R is expensive by a lakh and a half than its competitor.

Looks - both look equally good but the FZ1 looks slightly imposing
Exhaust note - both are i4s, so either one will treat your ears with sweet err insane roars
Performance - again very hard to find a clear winner

Like I said earlier, both of them are equally good but the Honda is overpriced.

P.S - There's an FZ1 ownership thread and a separate thread on CB1000R by gthang. Check with them and make a decision
Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one. And most of them are full of shit.

I would have bought the CB1000R at the price they are asking IF they had launched it with C-ABS. For the money, the FZ1 is hard to beat...sounds fantastic too.

If you are considering the options of FZ-1 & CB 1000R, a few more thoughts to ponder over. Guess the budget is not a big concern for you.

Have picked up the following bikes which are currently more or less in the price bracket for you to derive at (8 to 12L INR)

          1) Ducati 796: Twin Cylinder of Ducati 796, not quite easy on pocket. A bit of legacy Technology when compared to Jap one Liter Bikes. But the build quality and eye for details is to be seen to be believed (Jayant do not mean to belittle your choice)
          2) Sportster 48: Ride quality is poor with hard/non existent suspension. Very low GC of just 100 MM means you have to be extra careful when doing the city bumps & guess what even the toll booth humps Suspension travel is only 1 1/2 inches (Mean no offense to 48 owners)
          3) Suzuki Bandit: Good All rounder, but very poor in its looks, when you pay the money guess it matters a little . Handling is a bit suspect as per the many reviews that you can read on various forums, a bit of legacy technology
          4) Yamaha FZ-1: Current favorite of mine, Famed R-1 Engine (2008 Spec), excellent seating posture coupled with decent suspension. Very practical bike for the city and for long rides. The only con that i see is, it might be lost in the crowd because of its understated road presence
          5) Iron 883: Yes you get legacy via name, decent posture, proper city bike and can do long rides. Suspension is poor when compared to FZ-1. GC is questionable at 120 mm when compared to 135 mm of FZ. Very much a show baazi bike
          6) Honda CB1000R: Pay for the badge, Engine is refined, ride is very much detuned to meet city traffic obligations. Suspension is good, Good Ground Clearance of 130 mm and yes paying 150K more when you have FZ-1 needs to be taken with a pinch of salt

Last but not the least what is your objective of buying a BIG bike?

            1. Looks : its very subjective. Honda was designed in Italy.looks futuristic in side profile(console and single sided swingarm looks cool with beautiful alloys). FZ1 looks brutish. Compact yet muscular. Can be mistaken for a FZ16 by a non biker from a distance.
            2. Exhaust note : Honda is pretty silent where as FZ1 sounds bass-y. Check stock exhaust video in my signature.
            3.Performance : Comparable.

tnx for the suggestion guys.ill most probably go for the honds cbr 1000rr repsol edition.it comes with abs which i think would be very useful.i test rode the cb1000r , i somehow didnt like the upright seating posture.i know im being ridiculous here cuz the seating position of the cbr would break my back, but ive always been a supersports fan.can u tellme whether the repsol colors look good in flesh, and the honda guy is saying the bike was manafactured in december 2010 in japan, reached them in march 2011.it is still sealed in the crate,it shouldnt be a problem right, because i thought you usually get the bikes in about a month from manafacture.hes says its a 2011 model cuz usually they stop producing the 2010 model in october 2010 and start producing for the 2011 from novermber itself.can someone throw some light on this. tnxx gain
