  • Amitabh Bachchan rode, loved and buying a Harley. Going to be a biker?

Amitabh Bachchan buying an Harley Davidson, after riding it.

Our very own angry young man of Indian cinema is all set to buy his first Harley Davidson. The actor who just experienced riding a Harley in his latest movie, Bbuddah - Hoga Tera Baap which is expected to be launched on July 1st is quite excited about his new found passion for bikes. Amitabh said that this bike felt like he was pulling a building along with him.
He enjoyed the experience of riding astride a Harley and has set his heart on owning a Harley Davidson to ride around the streets of Mumbai. Though he wished he had bought one earlier, he said that it was never too late to succumb to his passions.
Though Amitabh Bachchan has been seen on bikes in a number of roles and films such as Sholay and Muqaddar Ka Sikander this time he wanted to get his act just right on a Harley.

Here are some quotes of the legend himself, on this matter:

I had to ride this Harley Davidson for one of my scenes. The bike is very stylish but when I tried to ride it, it felt as if I am pulling an entire building along with me.
It's a fantastic bike and I want to buy one soon. I want to ride it on Mumbai streets. I wish I had bought one before but it's never too late

Guys, many celebrities ride big bikes including cruisers, sportsbikes, etc. but not all are known and respected as bikers. We have previously seen many a filmstars like Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, etc. riding bikes on and off the screen.
The reason is that not all of these advocate biking as a lifestyle and secondly, don't wear proper riding gears. Google "Salman Khan R1" and you'll come across many pics with him on Busa, R1, etc. but not one having riding gears, not even helmet. John Abraham is no doubt a very respected biker from the bollywood fraternity.
However, it remains to be seen whether Amitabh Bachchan's new found love for Harleys is going to stay or its just another purchase he's making. Fingers crossed.
One thing you can't argue against- The Badass, 'don't ya' mess with me' image of Harley suits Amitabh Bachchan the best!

Like my idol John Abraham, is best suited on Yamaha YZF R1, the Indian acting legend is best suited on a Harley... It matches his angry ol... er... angry "now-young" man nature!

Jokes apart guys, do you think such heavy bikes are ok for someone in the 7th decade of life? Of course, Bachchan ji is much better health-wise, but still?

For real. To ride it. Read the first post and you'll read Amitabh ji's quotes about the bike.

I wonder how the showroom people will react seeing the family there...

I would say John is not a biker, but just a poser.. If you watched Sunny's interview video with John, John himself mentioned that he rode his BUSA and R1 hardly for 200+odd kms ONLY..
Also he told that he wishes to have as many bikes as Dhoni (who has 29 bikes) and keep them in a separate garage (like Dhoni).. So one can easily make out that John is only trying to be as someone else..

After hearing that would you still call him a Biker???

On the other hand, Dhoni not only owns so many bikes, but also rides them whenever he gets a chance..

So according to me, Dhoni can be called as a True Biker but not John..

@MODS: Sorry for the OT, but could not control myself but mentioning what I think..

Small OT: Maybe he rode his Busa and R1 200 kms only, but what about other bikes then? Doesn't total mileage count? Does odo mileage count at all? He probably might have 20,000 on his other bikes before he owned R1??

And trying to be like someone else is a personality trait much like any other biker. Even I would like to be like Sarath Kumar, by beating him on the racetrack, though I can safely assert I won't be able to.
He is a honest person who attends social & biking events sometimes without charging for it, spreads the helmet message so people can live, etc.
Maybe he's not the best biker I agree, but from the bollywood fraternity, who else would you deem closest to being a true biker?

I agree with your opinion about Dhoni being a good biker, although my sentence was about the bollywood fraternity.

@smarth619 which biking events does john attend without charging money especially when no movie of his is about to release ?

@ topic - its pretty obvious that mr bachan has bought the bike only because of his new movie that prtrays his angry young man image or something like that . iirc he had said he dislikes bikes as they are not as safe as cars .
