  • Sports Tourer??? sub 90k

    Hey fellow bikerz...

I have a budget of around 80-90 grands.

I am into sales, so there is a lot of riding thats gonna be involved, so i wanted a bike that would be comfortable as well as quick. Plus the weekend trip to some place nearby.

Well i like easy revving and smooth units (like in the p150s, if thats what you call those traits as), mileage is not an issue.

I zeroed in on the yamaha fazer 150 and pulsar 220. i know very different bikes and a forum actually exists for it...but still but are sports tourers.

now the real doubt is, if the new gen pulsars are gonna be launced in september, isnt it worth waiting for??? are the news confirmed??? or sud i just go out and buy one of the above 2???

thanks in advance for the suggestions.

        • considering P150 as smooth, is not a good benchmark.
        • wait till new pulsars are launched.
        • also consider ZMR.

p150 is free revving thou rite???? as wen compared to the p220...i mean i rode dem back to back and just couldnot help but notice the way p150 eagerly revved...den maybe i havent rode the apache series yet

ZMR is not my kind...maybe its a great bike...but doesnot please the sense...

i guess then september it is...but hope mr bajaj stays true his words and schedule.

people are really confused whether to buy current pulsar or wait...
Though i agree the current P220 is certainly a great bike,I would suggest, you should wait for new P220,becoz if u dont, and if bajaj makes some significant changes(which bajaj is well known of doing),you will feel betrayed and obsolate.
If you cant wait and need a bike soon, then take the Fazer,if you dont mind compromising on performance for the looks.

              But my vote....P220(sept)

Then why are you considering FAZER? Fazer sets your blood racing with its 153cc low revving engine?

I still suggest that you go for Karizma R, not ZMR as ZMR is beyond your budget. All these years, we regarded Karizma as the ultimate Indian sports tourer...
Another good choice would be P220, but waiting a bit more is better than regretting later on.

Also, if you want a serious fun bike for both city and highway, try the TVS Apache RTR 180... That will "set the blood racing" the moment you go beyond 5000 rpm. Has minor vibrations between 4-7 krpm, but the ride is hellish.

...well fazer does look the part...i mean a look at it and you are all smiles...zmr somehow disappoints with its loooks...it looks bulbous from certain angles...den again looks are subjective...but mr samarth..will surely hop on one and take a test drive before i make d decision..

and about the apache...wow...i would love to have it but then the general perception of it bien a tad tiny for anybody over 6 ft..plus it has a sporty intent..so wont be very comfortable over a long distance...but all said and done..its a hoot to drive.

i had been to the pro biking showroom today...it happens to be in my society... well the guy said three things...

                    1) pulsar 250 is on the cards (not sure abt the september launch)
                    2) he said dat (and i feel wierd abt it) that ktm 200 will be badged as the pulsar 200 and the ktm duke 125 is on the cards too..and will be the first of the ktms to arrive
                    3) abt the september launch..he said dat der is some tweaking goin on for the p180...and dats what would be the launch in sep according to him...also he said dat any updates will be introduced before navaratri..which falls on september 27th

I see. You're somewhat right about Apache RTR 180- I tried the RTR series, and the riding position for me (Height: 6' 1") was somewhat cramped with not much space.
The footpegs were a bit forward and high, rather than rear and high but it seemed tolerable.

But, I think you're confused about Karizma. I'm NOT talking about ZMR as shown below:

I'm talking about this Karizma, the one shown below:

                      It looks fine, doesn't it?

Looks like this is starting to become a speculation thread

I think you have decided to wait already. So stick with the decision. Get some nice gear with it too.
