  • The Killing Confusion(FZ-16 or HH Hunk)

    hey friends,
i'm new here.so dont know why my previous thread is not visible or approved.
    here i go again.
    i'm 5'10 , 77kg college going 21yr old.
now looking for my first bike.
budget is far most stretchable to 70k(otherwise 65k).
    i have a scooter right now.bike will serve same purpose.city riding(30-70kmph).90kmph is a rare chance(not that rare),mileage acceptable atleast 40-45kmpl
    i'm looking for a 150cc bike.
my priorities are(in order of importance)
    performance and handling(no probs till 85-95kmph,85%city 15%highway)
    looks(muscular and not much fairing)
reliability(no major probs for atleast 2-3yrs)
comfort(good for atleast 100km at a stretch for rider, which will be twice a month)
should not be omnipresent(eg pulsars, splendors etc. etc.)

eg; FZ16 or FZS, HUNK, APACHE, ....i mean good looking and good performing
    (NO PULSARS)

    need a lot of help

Ill tell you something simple i have told few of my friends who all ended up buying a Hunk.
You want Millage?-then get HUNK or for everything else get FZ.
Couple of my friends who got the HUNK are facing several issues with it.I dont know if this is a one off issue or a common one.You might want to check with the owner's and the ownership thread.

        my top priorities are :-
        1. YAMAHA FZ-16(latest)
        2. Hero Honda Hunk(2011)
        FZ-16
        for:-
        road grip,looks,muscular feel,its a yamaha,power+performance package,ability to handle low speeds in top gear greatly,uniqueness
        against:-
mileage(concerned..i need atleast 45kmpl),rear seat comfort and size(not much concern)

        HH HUNK
        for:-
        HH ka bharosa,muscular looks,mileage,power+performance,handling not bad,comfort etc.etc.
        against:-
gearbox,my mood(biggest barrior),looks small in front of fz(in my view).

to sum things up...i'm actually looking for someone who can tell me if there is any problem in maintainance of fz-16 or in performance.i just want to make sure if there are some problems i will face with fz.if yes then HUNK is the thing i will go with.

i know hunk is not bad.its just my heart is on yamaha but i'm scared if something goes wrong after few months with it i will be really upset coz it is going to be my BIRTHDAY PRESENT,,,,please guys help me...sorry for this long thread but i have to buy bike within 15 days and i'm still confused about overall performance cum maintainance of fz-15..
        please help yaar.
NOTHING will go wrong with the fz... have been riding one form the past two years. done off roading, rode it on a beach, inside 1 feet of water, national highways, apart from snow my fz has seen everything be it riding continuously for 2 hours at a stretch in 47deg C or 500+ km rides in a day at speeds close to 100kmph....

if you are not concerned about the mileage that much I would suggest you not to doubt the fz's performance..... fz mileage is around 38+kmpl.

I have no opinions about the hunk except that it has a reliable engine from honda, looks are totally subjective, better rear seat for sure...

But since your majority use will be in the city and taking an assumption that the ladeej in your life can adjust to the rear seat, I would suggest you go for FZ...

        my reasons:
        1. amazing bottom and middle end.
        2. reasonable top end
        3. yamaha performance
        4. looks(subjective)
        5. the Phat tyre
        6. lots of scope for modifications

The Fz suits you the best. Why dont you give a try for P150 or SZ. Even they are suiting you well.

no offence to anyone ...but pulsars are the most common bikes in punjab when it comes to bikes for youngsters and i dont like their quality..
and SZ ...it doesn't look that much appealing to me(looks)....thanx for ur time and advice

Both are good . Hunk would be good for performance and mileage. Fz16 would be good for looks (streetfighter) ,monsoon (rear tire) . Frankly there is no bad bike in today's date -all depends on what you wnt.
Just asking did you consider stunner ?

                            need a lot of help

Hi, dude I too spent a lot of research before buying my first bike. Previously I roamed around on a scooter and now own a Fz-16..
I too had shorlitsted the Unicorn,FZ,Hunk and Apache 160....

performance and handling : Out of the above 4, the best handling is offered by Fz and Unicorn... The Fz is more of a mid-end torque monster, meaning it brings out its best performance in the middle range making it the best choice for cities. Handling is also good with the bike weighting less than 130kg, chances of accidents or out of control are absolutely nil. The other 3 weigh more.

For speed above 80, only the Apache performs as the FZ is not comfortable, Unicorn and Hunk develops vibrations. But Apache falters in the handling department
                            Apache : Full performer
                            Unicorn/Hunk : Gradual performer overall
                            Fz : low-mid end performer

                            looks : 1)FZ
                            2) FZ
                            3) FZ
                            4) Apache,Unicorn,Hunk

reliability : Unicorn, Hunk,FZ, Apache.... You can absolutely trust the Unicorn and Hunk and FZ....

comfort : 1)Unicorn : comfort for rider and pillion (100%). Good riding position. Wont feel any kind of strain..Monoshock suspension is surely the best for our roads.
                            2) Hunk : Rider (70%), Pillion (30%)....
Not bad for the rider and pillion
                            3) FZ : Excellent comfort for the rider but sadly nil for the pillion as the rear is puny.... So if 90% of your trips are going to be alone, then this wont be a problem...
4)Apache : Riding position is a bit of a strain compared to the other 3.

So out of your choices, if you chose the Hunk,
Hero Honda's excellent service, better mileage 45-50kmpl and 55-60 in highways, Good looks and design but bulky and not so perfectly tuned engine.

If Fz, mileage at 40-45kmpl city and highway, Yamaha's not-that-much-bad-service, Good handling and less risks of accident. Braking is the safest of all the above.

FZ s is a waste of money....Just a visor and different paint streaks and 3k extra...

So I chose a Fz-16, black in September 2009 and since then I have ridden it for around 10k km. Not even a single accident or scratch and I feel its the safest 150cc bike... Mileage minimum - 33kmpl (ripping at 90-100km/hr)
                            Maximum - 51kmpl ( 45-50 km/hr in 4 laned highway)....
                            Reduce 1 km/hr speed, add 1second 2 ur life.
