I have Honda Dazzler (bought 5 months ago) in our same namma Bangalore and my points are

Note: This is just my opinion about My bike only.

1) I don't think my bike is giving above 40kmpl though my ride is normal (max 60-70 kmph). I have finished 2 free services and total kms run is 1300 only as my ride is 10 kms only totally in a day
2) Rear disk brake is yuck! Not at all good and skids.
3) MRF tyres are not at all good in my opinion. I am thinking of replacing it with some good tubeless brands (which one??? pls suggest)
4) Very low torque

. I also have Suzuki Shogun (in my hometown Chennai). Shogun rocks!. I feel Dazzler is low in torque but high speed is okay..

Before getting Dazzler, I tried FZ16 (my most favorite even today) but my wife suggested go for Dazzler because FZ16 seats are too high and small for pillion.

I see lot of new dual disc CBZ Extremes in my area Marathahalli (atleast). My suggestion is go for CBZ Extreme which has same features as Dazzler (like dual disc, digi speedo etc) which might suit your requirement. Or, go for normal Unicorn (best one).

Also my Honda service manager (Dream Honda, Whitefield) said that Honda company is moving their warehouse (spare parts division) and hence there are delay in spare parts supply. Again am not sure if it is true or not.

This is just my opinion and no offense pls :-)

Planning to sell Activa and buy a decent bike for office commute ONLY. Occasional long drive is OK. But, its not a must.

With the above points keeping in mind, I did test drove following bikes:

1) Hero Hunk:
I felt very heavy during the ride. Gear shift was notchy. Somehow did it feel the bike. But rear suspension was pretty good. The tank had lot of vibrations at around 3K-4K rpm. Not sure if this is due to test drive bike.
Initial pull very pretty low.

2) CBZ Xtreme:
Instantly this felt like comfortable riding bike. It met most of my req.
Rear suspension with disk brakes. Initial pickup and gear shift was smooth.
And yes, this bike had vibration after 70kmph speed. Overall i felt home. But, still thinking. Whats the feedback on CBZ Xtreme? Is it good? What negatives can I expect?

3) Yamaha FZ16:
It very odd sitting on this bike with big tank. Awesome power delivery and smooth gears. Suspension was quite impressive. On humps, pot holes I did not feel the hit. But, it was little heavy for me.

4) Honda Dazzler:
Whole attitude of dealers. With lot of patience did the test drive. They did not even allow me to test ride it properly. Smooth engine. Gear was notchy. Was not slotting the gears properly. Engine vibration similar to Hunk/CBZ.

I am thinking of TDing GS 150R as well. But, concerned about resale.
It outright looks like GS 150R suits my req. Other concern is about tank rusting. Any other negatives with GS?

So, with the above points, I need your expert inputs which would be better. Suggestions please.

If you don't have anything against Bajaj then I would recommend you go with Pulsar 150. It's a decent bike with good mileage and comfortable riding position which would also suit your wife.

+1 for the above statement. Even I should have thought of considering Pulsar 150 before getting Honda Dazzler. But its late now

Apart from the stupid name , Hunk from HH is a good ride.

CBZ Xtreme or P150 are pretty good for your needs. Mostly trouble free as you are planning to use inside city only.

Any inputs on GS 150R? I am hearing lot of good reviews except the rusting tank issue.
May be resale would be a problem after some years.

The GS150R is certainly a good bike. It has an additional 6th gear which is suitable for highway cruising.

However, if you are mostly going to ride in the city, stick to Pulsar 150. I say this because it's easier to find a Bajaj service center and the Bajaj spares are easily available at reasonable prices. The P150's saddle height is more suitable for a 5'6" guy.

I personally like the power that the P150 produces and I find it really enjoyable to ride a P150. You can test ride both P150 and GS150R and decide.

Thats wierd. Its the lightest among the bikes you've mentioned.
The bike is anyway out of contention if you consider pillion comfort.

I'd personally suggest a dazzler/unicorn as they meet all your needs.

Am not sure about the resale values of pulsars, but they are definitely good ones. TD a P135

All bikes will be upgraded some time or the other...that doesn't mean we should refrain from a good bike.
Just because Yamaha R15 v2.0 was launched, can we rule out the v1 completely?

I don't buy your reasoning.

Pulsar 150 suits the thread starter's needs completely IMHO.

Also, P150 is more fuel efficient and more powerful than both the GS150R and CBZ. We all know that.

Exactly, and its really worth waiting for them.
As far as the bikes you listed are concerned, HHH would be my pick, a very refined engine indeed.

Thanks for the quick responses.
I will TD P150 and GS150R this weekend and will update my experiences.

I am not against any brand. However, I need a better brand looking for resale few years down the line with good ownership. Its all up to to how we maintain our bikes in mint condition regularly.

So, when you folks say Pulsar upgrades; what components would get upgraded?
Suspensions, BHP, Tyres, ride comfort? Not sure what to expect even if I wait.

Sorry for delaying this post. But, after a long gap I TDed GS150R, P150, P180, CBZ Xtreme, Hunk.

Again, as I mentioned earlier CBZ Xtreme was the best fit. However, I got dragged with very good reviews of GS150R.

Went ahead with the extensive TD of GS150R.

GS150R:
+ Superior comfort
+ smooth engine
+ good mileage
+ uncommon on roads
+ stability
+digital tachometer was absolute bliss and accurate

-- Riding position was little awkward as I had to stretch my hands for upright position. It can be resolved if we shift the handlebar towards the rider.

- headlight not focused properly
- heavy: Heaviness of the bike is pulling my decision not to go for it
- - slow pickup - Pickup has improved with new version
- rusting issues & Weak brakes: The showroom guys told Rusting has been taken care from local distributors and made QA very stringent. But, I would have loved if it had rear disc as well.

Now the bikes decided are CBZ Xtreme ATFT Double Disc and GS 150R.

CBZ Xtreme has following:
Dual Disc option, Lesser height/weight for me suits the best, peppier than GS150R
But, the demo bike had vibrations after 4K rpm. Not sure why.
Is vibration normal for CBZ for these rpm ranges?
Does clip-on bars cause more pain in hand joints? or is it comfortable for 25-30kms ride at a stretch?

GS 150R:
No vibration at all, superb build quality, ride was smooth, tacho console was awesome.
But, it was heavy and the upright position was little uncomfortable. Not sure why.

Will be booking this week.
