  • Which one?? R15V2 or CBR 250R or CBR 250R C-ABS

    Hi XBHPians,

I ride a Suzuki GS150R since last 3 years and pretty happy with it.
Now I have decided to gift me little sporty thrill feel.

    Have shortlisted 3 bikes .
    I am 5.8 tall and weighs 69KGs.
Mileage is not a problem , because I ride mostly in weekends.

Below are the list and my views

    1. Yamaha R15 v.2
Better looker of all. I especially liked the Red-white combo.
But comparatively least powered in the list.
No grab rails, So long rides with pillion will be a issue.

    2. Honda CBR 250R
I only liked the red one in this.
Costs around 1.7 lacs in bangalore.

    3.Honda CBR 250R (C-ABS)
Best of all. But I really confused whether to pay 30k extra for the C-ABS alone.

    4.Hyosung GT250R (Wish list)
The Red one is my favorite of all.
Doubt if this bike is really gona come to India. (My heart says to wait for this one). Even if it comes not sure about pricing.

    Waiting for your inputs...
    Suzuki GS150R(Balck) 2009- 2012
Yamaha R15 V2(LE white) 2012 and Honda Dio V2 Matte

m also in the same dilema,.,.,but i prefer going towards the CBR because of a larger displacement(i already have a R15 in my family and have ridden it extensively even gone for tours),.,.,
the only constraint is the budget,.,.,

can someone elaborate on the financing options for the CBR standard version,.,.,(i had put this question on the ownership thread but no response)

For safety purpose, it doesn't matter to spend more 30K for ABS.
Go for the CBR ABS version and you would love it.

You are right, Considering CBR's top speed of 150+.
But I want to know whether we can manage those speeds with Non-ABS version.

I guess, someone did reply in that thread. Financing options differ from place to place, company to company. So it's better if you go to the showroom and ask about it.

ABS has nothing to do with the speed. It's all about how well it can come to a halt.

If Budget allows, don't look further then CBR250R with C-ABS. it's the best thing money can buy right now.

hi guys .. i also faced a similar question before me while I had to pick up one between R15 and CBR as I was totally owned by the looks of the prior one. I infact for my R15 V2 booked here in Pune as well for that matter in white n red which actually looks fabulous. but due to excessice demand the waiting was for more than 45 days and then I thought of giving a try to CBR25R as well. though I wasnt interested in extending my budget to it.
Believe my words, after I rode CBR for a test ride, i took only a ride to decide my next ride and got my R15 booking canceled that very day. Another friend of mine bought my booking and he owns a R15 V2 now. I could differentiate the two rides to an extent to what I felt afterward. Now few points why I choose CBR :
1: Definitely better stability on highways. Some one was mentioning that weather Non ABS manages 150kmph+ on highways. Definitely yes and that too with ease. I rescently drove my bike to n from Goa to Pune, solo rideer and if the roads allow you, you can rip it to seriously fast speeds.
2: If you are into touring occasionally, this is the best sports tourer that you can buy while not shelling out lakhs on busas n bandits ... very comfortable, and yes, a lot lot better then R15 saddle.
3: R15 is bred for race track. The sitting posture might not appeal to everyone. I didnt feel comf with the forward lean for longer distances. I needed to rise tall and then again go back to ridin position. The wrists takes a lot of weight n stress for the same... NOT a matter if you are on a track as there you need to crouch in, tuck in elbows, knees... goes perfectly fins in that case.
4: The pillion rider would take a beating too as the pillion seat is quite high to climb ... and the forward incline makes it diff to stick to the seat without holding anything firm.. since r15 doesnt come over with side rear rails ... all you have got to hold is the rider ... .. better to have ur gf as ur pillion in that case all the time ...
5: Last but not the least ... after ridin CBR for nearly 2 months and doing 4000 kms .. R15 lacks the necessary punch that I am relishin on now ... I rode that friends R15 a few days back and it was giving me a sense that WTF is wrong with this bike ... y is it not riding fast .. and on the contrary my friend who was riding my Ceebeeerr was totally owned by the response of it and the quickness, comfort of it...

He was all praises for the Ceebeer and actually thisbike gives you the sense of riding a bigger bore bike... R15 .. still looks small and just a tad undernourished ...

I have a std CBR and if the budget allows you guys .... just go for it... it would keep you happy for looon looong miles to go ...

                Shashvat
                ride safe and wear helmets....

Then wait for a month or so take a loan to buy it.

ABS is not only for high speed riding dude... Its mostly to save you from tyre slips during panic braking. Or prevent trye from skidding on bad surface like gravels, oil, etc... But it helps on highways too as in India many people go on highways without knowing anything or take a turn or come in middle from nowhere.. At that time it helps.

                      Hi All,
                      Thanks for your replies.
Today I visited Honda and Yamaha showrooms, after giving my GS for service.

                      1. It was Planet Honda, Rajajinagar.
I did a test ride with the C-ABS for about 1 km. It was not at all enough.
The showroom guy sitting behind me kept telling me to ride slowly.
Due to traffic and speed breakers, could not get a actual feel of the bike.
Bike and gear were really smooth. I definitely need another test ride.

They quoted OTR price of 198832 RS for C-ABS and 169680 for STD version.
Waiting period is a week only.
Guys anyone bought CBR from Planet Honda, please share your service experience...

                      2. It was Bangalore Wheels, Rajajinagar
They had a black R15 for display and a Blue one which somebody brought for service.
Could not see Red-white R15, have seen only in internet.
Sad thing, there is no bike for test ride.
Quoted price was 126996 RS and 120 days waiting period.

I have to take that bike to showrrom next time.

Overall I am inclined towards CBR.
Let me see if I can get another test ride on CBR.

Vivek dude, I was in the same dilemma as well. And I had made a few posts in R15 V2 thread. I had booked R15 initially, then cancelled and went with CBR. Below is the copy-paste.

                        ~~
one test drive, thats it ! cbr - blew me away !!

things which mattered for change of decision:

                        R15
                        1) my 6 Ft lean figure meant i felt like sitting on a goat, toy-ish, i took pics went through them over and again.
                        2) changing gears - i dont know, some strange angle, tried to adjust by sitting back and forth - pain on ankle.
                        3) while test driving r15, didn't feel the punch - may be the power is stacked up 7.5K rpm and beyond (i was riding it between 4-5K rpm)

                        CBR
                        4) low end torque, wow, just wow! kept on pulling - didnt even have time to check the rpm it was that much fun.

additional info which i factored in while taking the decision:

                        1) cbr is just 42K away (onroad) from r15. 1.69K - Mysore
                        2) age factor - my college days are long bygones (subjective).

Tax is killer in Karnataka, shucks ! If you have the dough, go for CBR, you won't regret it.

                        ~~

But my only worry is the Honda ASS.
Read really bad about their service.
