  • Help me out Dazzler/Fz/Sz-r

    Hello Guys,

I am planning to buy a new bike. I am bit new to biking. Earlier I had splendor used it for 6s)months. Am 5' 6' with lean built (56kgs).

As I prefer light weight bikes, short listed three bikes. I prefer honda/yamaha/Hero, because I want keep it for at least 5-6years.

    1. Honda Dazzler
    2. Fz
    3. Sz-r

I am not able to finalize one because following concerns.

    1. Dazzler: Not kicker. As I am only weekend user, I am bit worried of MF battery. At least for 6months I won't take bike to daily commuting purpose as my office is bit far. During weekend I will use bike around 15-40kms. Does it gives problem? Also dual disk may cause problem for less exp riders? Please suggest me with your experience/knowledge.

    2. FZ: I have tested this bike(In fact I will grab it from friend whenever I get a chance) . Very smooth handling and good engine. But mileage, my friend told he only once got 40kmpl most of the times it is 34-36kmpl. As I will use for 5-6yrs it will be pocket burner (I have to pay minimum 25k to 30k extra if we compare with bike that gives mileage 45-50kmpl).

    3. SZ-r: This is fascinated me first 10K less. Power delivery also less (no problem 12ps enough for commuter and occasional trips). But no kick here as mentioned to Dazzler, I have to pay 2k extra for kick (but dazzler no option at all). Also don't think it is well built when I saw a bike in my office, felt body parts are loose and not tough enough. Tank is loose. No guarantee that I will get min.45kmpl (range starts from 30kmpl to 50kmpl for this bike practically). Feeling whether it is worth for 69K (in bangalore OTR, with Kick). Also showroom person told me guarantee won't void if kick added, but dealers has to open engine, right? might be problem in future? Any body you know added kicker?

    Please please suggest!!!

    Thanks,
    VK.

All the above 3 bikes don't have kicker by default. I have never faced any trouble even in this bangalore cold weather with the self start even in morning. Just keep your battery electrolyte level checked every 2months and possibly change the battery when voltage drops or max. period of 15-18months and you will never feel a need for kicker.
My SZR gives me around 44kmpl in city.

In those 3 bikes ... Dazzler is best followed by FZs and lastly SZr

I think there will be no problem in battery level for not using it to 8/10 days. My self kept Dazzler unused for 15 days, but she get start without any major resistance. BTW, Why do u became cautious for fuel efficiency of FZ, when u use bike just for weekend, because joy of biking is more important than fuel cost. If u heartly feels for FZ, just go for it!

No problem, the FZ should give you good performance and cheap spares compared to other bikes should not bother you. As for mileage you must not expect more. It will be around 30-45kmpl.

Bike just for Weekend Ride?? That too just 15-20 Kms??

Do not invest much. SZ-R is the best option. You can use it for short weekend tours well. Milage is pretty good provided you complete proper run-in period. In city traffic, the bike is gem of all your options. riding position is much relaxed. build quality is excellent. none of the part is loose or improperly fitted. It doesn't look as muscular as FZ .........doesn't mean that it has poor build quality. The fact is - this beautiful machine is highly underesteemated in its class.
Sometimes it takes tankfull of fuel before you can think wise

Among the three Dazzler is in a different league both in performance and equipment. Not that the others are bad .

Dazzler has the proven engine of the unicorn. Moreover it has a claimed FE of 60km/l. It might be lighter on your pockets too. Be sure to check out the new visual upgrades to the Dazzler from the Honda website.

I too agree SZ-r is good, looks good also. But I want to research bit on battery, daily use kick not required definitely. But feeling there will be problem if I am only riding for weekends. Battery charging won't be sufficient to overcome discharging.

Checked with showroom guys, they told they can fit kicker for 2500. But is it harm engine from company fit? Warrant won't void as per dealer.

Fitting the kick-rod will not harm the engine as there is already a provision for that in the engine.

The Dazzler gives 60kmpl mileage only at test conditions or when you ride at 35kmph on top gear.

I know many who own unicorn and dazzler and it gives 40-48kmpl in normal driving condition in city.

I own an SZR and you need not worry about the battery. the self start crank can start the bike even in chilled mornings.

Your doubts is like this, have you ever wondered what would happen if car battery dies? Even cars used to come with hand crank if you may remember!

The SZ/FZ batteries are of 5ah unlike other bikes that use 3.5ah. Its powerful enough to support HS1 35W DC headlights as well as the starter.
I recommend you to invest that 3000rs instead in buying new battery after 15months so that you would never face a down time or require that kicker for use somewhere once in a year.

@prajnyan: how much mileage you are getting for Sz-r? Is Sz-r suitable for long rides?
