  • Immortal dilema : N250 , CBR 250, Duke 200 or another surprise release in 2012?

    Hey guys ,

Have talked to several people here on xBHP and else where but want a greater outlook and opinion on the issue.
Basically I want to change / upgrade my from my current bike which is a Pulsar 220F 2011 model.
Had a budget of around 2-2.5L and could extend it to get a N250 but would want to keep back some for maintenance and petrol to actually ride it and not just as a show piece.
Hence really confused should I go in for a decent/good condition second hand Ninja 250 ?
Is it worth upgrading / changing to a CBR 250 since I already have a p220 as it would'nt be much of a change?
Wait for the Duke 200 / Hyosung gt 250r / new pulsar or any other bike in this price range?
My basic requirements are a good tourer for the occasional long ride and good weekend short ride bike as I barely get much time off from my PhD . Would like to clip the top end (150-155) ever so often and mileage is a small concern although not a big one.

Options are a b*tch to choose from !

What do you guys advise me ?! Valid options ? any other suggestions ?

      3. Is it worth upgrading / changing to a CBR 250 since I already have a p220 as it would'nt be much of a change? - It is a definite upgrade alright. Would I sell a 2011 P220 and consider it as Worthy Upgrade - No

Wait for the Duke 200 / Hyosung gt 250r / new pulsar or any other bike in this price range?

      - Then the Duke isnt the bike for you. The CBR is the Best Tourer in the Market so far. And the rest will take its own sweet time.

        @Shreyas,
Me too in a similar dilemma. I have got a budget of 2.5 Lacs. IMO Ninja 250R is best considering our requirements but i will have to stretch a bit to buy it.
I would suggest you to wait for the Auto expo beginning from 07-Jan-2012. We will get to know new launches.

Good suggestion. As as N250 is concerned, I guess there is no other bike in its comparison in India if you can afford it.

Since you have had a 220 till now...IMHO get a Ninja250 and be happy.

Keep my current p220 for touring sake and the duke 200 would be a good change being a different ride and all. Viable?

yup anxiously awaiting the auto expo although feel the ones thats are'nt out in the news yet would take quite some time to get released and not patient to wait that long :X Anyway fingers crossed. I'd have to let go of my p220 in that scenario and dont think the ninja is a good ride in for the city considering the parking and all those constraints

true but has its constraints in city , don't it ? Also while travelling parking is an issue thats my only concern. Its like keppeing an eye on your footwear every time you enter a temple dont wanna end up with that dilema

Wish it were that easy hope the auto expo does disappoint then that scenario would become true !

220 to a CBR upgrade surely does not seem worth it. 220 is already solid tourer.

In your shoes if I can keep the 220 then I would probably go for a second N250/New KTM for those thrills

The KTM definitely seems a winner, but with the small 10L(if i remember correctly) touring is going to be from bunk to bunk.

Go for CBR...it's not costly as Ninja & gives good average too...There's quite a difference in high end performance between CBR & P220

I am too in a similar dillema...current choice is KTM 200 but waiting for auto expo just to know if anything suitable is coming.

I have seen CBR owners not that happy with their machines, which has never been a case when talking to a N250 owner.

I have my p180 for daily commute, so need a bike for touring and some fun ! But the budget limits evrything

Will have to let go of the p220 for a N250 unless I get a desperate seller :P Hence hopeful on the duke pricing to be below CBR's , two distinctive rides , seem more viable.

Any other possible surprises for early next year ?

But is it worth paying almost twice the price of a p220 for only a few differences?
and as Gurveer says CBR owners dont seem to be that satisfied with their machines?!

Almost the same question that I asked myself when I had to choose between C250 and N250. Considering the fact that they are the same price in US and C250 ABS is around 400$ more expensive than N250. So had the price difference not been so much it would have been a tougher decision for me.

Regarding the issues people are facing with C250: Well IMO the number of people who are happy with the machine (those who don't really post much- including silent members and non members) is far far higher than the number of people who are facing major issues.

Minor issues can come with even the finest products money can buy (be it bikes or cars or phones).

C250, like any other product is a new launch worldwide so everything takes time to settle down and Honda guys have started taking care of the issues. Where as N250's been launched for few years now.

I would also like to stress: Never buy a used vehicle if you can afford a new vehicle.

Take your time and buy what suits you the best.

                            I personally love both N250 and C250.

No comments on the KTM from my end.

Now I am stuck with CBR & Duke, cant at all afford a Ninja.

Though in the dillema, I still have an inclination towards CBR250, for the following reasons :

                              1) It has a full fairing (personal choice)
                              2) Great mix of a tourer & track ripper (pl dont smack me for this , i tried leaning it, did well, not as good as R15 though)
                              3) I doubt bajaj would be able to service KTM & has very limited outlets too, but honda is a local chap now
                              4) Top end is whopping, and even comparable to Ninja

Pl throw some light..... and help me decide.
