  • Which bike should i buy with budget of 90K

    Hi team,

This is my first ever post on XBHP and it gives a great feeling to be a part of XBHP now.
I am planning to buy a new bike in Jan'2012 but i am bit confused which bike should i buy.Bikes which i like is Pulsar 220F & TVS apache RTR180,as i am more attracted towards P220F (i like its power) but going across through with reviews for Pulsar 220F i din't find it impressive, as some posted engine related problem after 1year and with fairing.
As i am 5"6' in height so please suggest me a good bike which suits me and moreover are there any new upcoming bikes expected in 2012 in this range?????

You can wait for 2012, there are bikes lined up for their debut in 2012, you will get lot of choices to choose from , so from my side jst play wait and watch game to get a good deal. Some of bikes lined up for launch are

      1). KTM Duke 200
      2). New Pulsar 220
3). Yamaha 250 and many more.....
Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

I wonder who reported that. I am one of the very first people to buy the 'soon to be discontinued' P220F. Since my bike was delivered on the 2nd day after launch, I have had the opportunity of watching other people buy and run their bikes before me even though I bought mine without a Test ride or review from anyone. RTR 180 was very much available at that time too. As of now, 2 years, 3 months and 34k km of ownership and checking the xbhp P220 ownership thread, I am yet to see a smoking/blown/seized engine on a P220. There are plenty to be seen on the RTR180 thread though(I see one every time I take a sneak peek there once every 2 months). I am only writing this post so that you make informed decisions and not go as per hearsay/preconceived notions and ALSO, I needed to restore the honour .

Anyways, as for your query, given your height, the RTR shouldn't be any problem. It is a good bike for general purposes(since you haven't mentioned the purpose of use of the bike). If you are willing to wait, please do wait for the Auto Expo where the new Pulsars *might* be showcased. That time, you can take an informed decision.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

          Wait till March or April.

I suggest you to wait till March/April 2012.
But most of the bikes being launched will be in the premium segment.

          Expected bikes:-
          1. KTM Duke - Maybe over 1.2 lacs (way more than 90k)
          2. New Pulsar 150/180/200/220 - let's wait and watch
          3. Apache 200 + - ???
          4. Yamaha Fazer 250 - ????
          etc

          Available ones:-
          1. Karizma ZMA-R - fits the budget, good machine. (proven tourer)
          2. Pulsar 220S/F - fits the budget, awesome power.
P.S - if you maintain your bike well, it won't give problems.
If you don't maintain a Ninja ZX-10R, it'll also cramp up in months. Got it?
          3. Apache 160/180 - fits the budget, superb bike. Vibrations reported though.
          4. Honda dazzler - fits the budget, decent power delivery.
          5. Suzuki GS - fits the budget, maybe a bit under-rated, but a very good performer. Do take a test drive!!!

Note - R15/CBR 250R haven't been suggested as they're way out of budget.
          Happy hunting.

Exactly my point!!! Pulsars issues have been magnified way too much. Every bike has its own niggles. Besides, it just demands care for the fun it provides!
