  • Help needed in buying a imported BUSA

    Hi Guys,

i am buying the imported/used bike - Busa. so need your help on this. Bike details:
    Hayabusa - 08 - new shape - Imported (not TR) - registered in 08
    Bill of entry - yes
    Duty paid reciept - yes
    RC - yes
its a KA 01 registered - how trustworthy it is?
    asking price is 8.5

there is a letter from customs in one of the para - it says "Chassis & engine number matching, but however the above mentioned model is not found"

Also it came with chassis & engine only & the plastics came seperately but with the same packet (as its mentioned 3 packets) to save on the duty...
    value - 1000 USD
total value after depriciation - 3620 USD

    Now i need to know
1> is this bike will be legal?? will i have probs with the the DRI?
2>how do i make sure the documents are real and not fake..

guys please help me on this.. need to finalise this quickly!!!

The bike is not legal. It was probably brought in parts and even they would have been under invoiced. The duty paid (if paid at all) is negligible, and will attract full duty with heavy penalty if caught by the authorities(DRI).
RTO papers will not reveal anything. Papers can only be verified from the customs department, and even if they are genuine you are still liable for duties and penalties.
The asking price seems to be on the higher side too, for a bike with these papers.

There is no way to know if the bike is legal or not even if the documents you mentioned are in place. And i am pretty sure this one is not. Also , you ll get enough 08 bikes invoiced in india in the second hand market for a lesser price. Look around.

            @anshul,

this bike came in as Bike, but without the tank... the same is mentioned in the customs paper...

yes its been under invoiced, so the reason it has come to that. but dont u think underinvoicing is govt/customs prob, they should have thought about it...
in this case, the tank came with the bike, in the same package. so they also know abt it. so what should be the problem??

Ashok, you're getting 3 year old bike @8.5 lacs which do not justify all the doubts plus headache.

Why don't you buy second hand Busa which is genuinely bought in india? You'll spend 1 odd lacs more but it will worth every penny and most importantly peace of mind.

I'm sure if you be patient enough you'll find lot of options in our market.

A brand new will always been the best option

I have been thru similar situation 4 years back and been wiser by the experience of going thru n number of papers and not getting a genuine duty paid bike. SO decided to wait for the official ones to come and God was kind that the mothership Busa arrived in India sooner that i imagined

As aargee says, the best option is always a new one from the showroom which would be the ultimate peace of mind and not to forget freedom from hassles of maintenance on used bikes and also you are sure of the history of the bike
Many used bikes have dubious riding history and you never know if its been thru accidents and then refurbished.

The messiah for us Bikers is that banks now finance SuperBikes and I took that route to bridge my budget from a grey one to the showroom one. I can put you on to my bank guy who did a super efficient job of getting the loan in a week

I can understand everyone's priority and situations vary, but nothing to beat the joy of riding out with your dream bike from a showroom and forget all about the hassles of owning a second hand bike

I hope this helps WIsh you all the best and you get your wheels soon

@ashok - yes thats exactly what i meant. Infact someone i know just picked up an 08 orange/black busa for around 7.5. He then sent it back for a 14r. So there are bikes out there you just have to search for them.I picked up a new one but if i had the option i would have picked up a second hand and added parts to make it the fastest thing on two wheels. Infact there is a 2011 black busa with TBR's / FP tactical / SS lines etc done around 2000 kms for sale. Showroom condition bike with not a penny to spend on it.

Do you know by any chance how much is the 11 busa being asked for ? .is the orange one still available ?

In bangalore either ppl love their busas very much/dont sell or all the deals happen underground .

I cannot do burnouts :(..my bike has traction control...
