  • Tourer with a budget of around 70k

I decided to get my first bike. I'm looking for a commuter that is totally comfortable for long drives. I'm 6 foot tall and ergonomics should not be a compromise. It should not look too small while I'm sitting on it.
I'm looking at the following options:
    1. Honda
      • Unicorn Dazzler
      • Honda Stunner PGMFi (My First Love)

    2. Yamaha
      • FZ 16

    3. Hero Honda
      • Hunk

I need top quality bike with less maintenance. Power and Mileage are down in the list. Searching for some feel good factor
I want to know the touring capabilities of the bikes in the list
I'm looking for a long term ownership. Please don't add new options. I'm already confused.

Go for Fz 16 or if you can increase your budget then the Fazer...These ones are pretty comfortable according to your requirements.

The hunk would be toooooooo small for your height, the Dazzler is a good option but then i would rather go for the Old unicorn..
Stunner would be too underpowered and cramped up since you are 6ft tall.

Zeroes down to Fz 16...Increase budget then the Fazer.

If you are looking for a affordable tourer cum city bike with a long term reliability, go and get the ZMA. The reasons are below :
            1. Lies in your budget.
            2. Tried and tested machine. Abuse it hardest and still it will smile back to you.
            3. 17bhp power still returns around 30 - 35 km/ltr.
            4. Can cruise at triple digits all day long without slightest hesitation.
            5. Maintainance - you need need to worry about this.

            The only drawbacks :
            1. Looks & technology is older as compared to the newer competition.

also its parts are costly, disc pads and fairing parts. One fall and you are in for trouble. Also the Hero and Honda have parted ways, so expect difference in service. If you are considering this as a long termer then its a straight no buddy!

Edit - i would have suggested the Pulsar 180 which I ride, But since you wish to tour on it expect back pains. So not going ahead with this suggestion...

FZ and the Fazer have a different seating posture, pls be advised with this. Handle bars are different than each other.

ZMA or ZMR will be problematic in terms of maintenance and repairs (Long term types). Or else, Man these two are fast...

If fairing is what you are refering to, then every faired bike is the same. Even same is the case with Fazer which is semi-faired as ZMA. Regarding parts, I agree its costly, if copared to Bajaj bikes. And slightly over priced than the yamaha spares but then also look at the durability iof the parts which justifies the cost.

Regarding parting of Hero & Honda, I dont think Hero will take any chances to lose out on its premium bikes customers. They would sort some way till 2014 untill then Honda will be backing up HMC for spares!!!!

I can buy that regarding reliability.
I hope we dont confuse him . Also Hero should be able to back up till then..
yeah bajaj parts are cheap man, disc pads 180rs with fitting hell cheap.

Yammie parts can be costly too. Then go for the Naked Fz16 only. No fairing no problem...hardly any panels on the bike.

                  @ Harish.
The choice is yours now. I suggest Fz 16.

Let's not confuse him, the FZ would be the best buy out of the Bikes mentioned above
                    My Stable.....
                    Yamaha Libero G5 (2008-present)
                    Yamaha YZF-R15 (2009-Present)
                    Kawasaki Ninja 250R (2011-Present)

yeah right bro...we might be rather confusing him. It is undeniable that every bike has its pros & cons be it be 150cc fz...a 223cc ZMA or a 1000cc R1. So let the guy decide. But I seriously doubt the 14bhp engine of fx would give any pleasure while touring.

The best tried & tested process is : " Take a test ride...choose the one that touches you the most !!!!!"

Also consider the Suzuki GS150R and Honda Unicorn. Both are capable of comfortable of cruising comfortably and returning good mileage in the process.
In today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

                            Go buy Yamaha FZ16
It is a very comfy bike, low height as you said and comes with wide radial tyres, a good reliable 153cc engine with superb pickup and braking, its close to your budget and gives about 38-40kmpl mileage when you rip even on highway and compared to any other bike like GS150 or Karizma which are good but with FZ its much less of maintenance cost and easy availability of spares for it.
