  • Need advice for new bike for city ride (40kms daily), upto 58k only

    Dear All,

I am looking for a bike as a daily office commuter (total distance per day 40kms). My requirements are good mileage and sitting comfort(should not give back pain). Look does not matter. Maint. should be low.
Also, my height is 5 ft 5" so please suggest bike which will suit to me. My budget is max 58k.

Whats your definition of good mileage?

Pulsar 135 and Yamaha SZ-R might be good option for you.

Also check this xBhp.com : What Bike. The price might not be updated here but will give you a basic picture.

regarding the comfort aspect, please shortlist 2-3 bikes from the above page and take a test ride of each bike and then choose the bike that felt most comfortable.

        Good bike....

        Hi,

Pulsar 135 and Yamaha SZ-R, would be good for you, but as you looks does not matter for you and both these bikes are good comb. of everything mileage+looks+price, if looks does not matter for you you can also check HH Passion, Suzuki sling shot and dazzler, all three will deliver more mileage around 55-65 in city and 65-70 on highways....

          Thanks

          Guys thanks for your reply...

Just wanted to know, did you people consider my height ( 5 5") while giving suggestions?

No one has given option of passion pro or honda shine...how are these bikes?

Also, all the above suggested bikes will come in my price range?

Yes, it wont be an issue. I am 5 6" and its easy to ride on SZR.
There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

Honda shine is good till 50 after that it vibrates.
Passion is way underpowered for what is delivers(mileage).
Honda twister you can look at, it has better mileage than passion and crux.

Since your budget is 58k, the following bikes can be considered in no particular order.
                  1) D150
                  2) SZ-R
                  3) D125
                  4) Twister
                  5) P135
                  6) Shine
                  7) Stunner
                  8) SS125

If you want a good performance at that price, look no further than the P135. It costs around 60k-64k OTR.
If you are into popular perception that all Bajaj parts are cheap and useless, go for any of the Honda bikes.
I you don't want to wait half the year for a Honda, go for the Yamaha one's.

I am not considering Heromota, for two reasons, I don't see any reason spending in excess of 60k for a 100cc bike, Twister is much better than the Passions/Splendours.
Last checked, Passion Pro with mag wheels costs 62k OTR in Hyderabad.

sitting comfort(should not give back pain)

so p135 is not a very comfortable bike.
shine and sz scores high here on comfort level.

I think you are relying too much on others opinion....or thinking too much. Relax its just a motorcycle.

Select a few and test ride them and buy.

I perfectly agree with Anand. Please take a test drive before you select the bike.I did not test any bike and purchased an RTR 180. The second month on the bike I realised on the highway that R15 is wayyy faster and handles much better ( I could not catch him!) The next month after riding a friend's bullet I was like Damn I should have listened to dad and got the RE C500 but anyways then dad would have run away with it. Now after several mods my bike is close to an r15 in performance but since you want a bike for mostly commute, please try to ride every option available before shortlisting.

I would recommend Suzuki Slingshot plus for daily commuting as it gives me good mileage, vibes free ride till 90s.
However its a bit slow in pick-up but high torque will keep you rolling in top-gear at 30s,power starts from 45 and pulls decently all the way to 80.
i never had a chance to check its top speed but i'm sure it will touch 100.
However getting service is going to be a headache if you don't have a showroom near ur place

isn't it a dead thread, but inputs from a slingshot owner is much welcomed as lots of people writes it off immediately.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
                              #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.
