  • Honda considers merging its two entities in India.

Honda considers merging its two entities in India- HMSI and HSCI.

Japanese auto maker Honda Motor Corporation (HMC) is considering consolidating its various holdings and merging its automotive entities in India into one company, according to sources. But a spokesperson at Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI), a joint venture (JV) between HMC and Shriram Industrial Enterprises Ltd (Siel), declined to comment on the issue.

HMC sells passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, motorcycles and scooters in India through two entities, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) and HSCIHonda considers merging its two entities in India

    --
Its highly unlikely to predict what will happen on merging these two companies. Perhaps each shareholder's shares would be re-alloted? It can however be more of a good decision than a bad one...
Perhaps they can gain on economies of scale, joint R&D and inter sharing of assets, since they would be the same company and have the same Financial Entity.
But its very hard to say something decisively at this stage... Wait and Watch.

i don't know how this jv will help but definitely the results will be postive.
talking of jv suzuki need to tie up with their maruti-suzuki counterpart to boost up sale.suzuki is lacking the no. of dealerships.
and the question remains why do i race?

I dont get it. Both are completely different except for the fact that they run on petrol. Why will they want this JV? I do not see any benefit for economies of scale or sharing expertise or anything else. May be showroom space. That too only the company owned and operated one. Can some one throw some light on what good might come out of this for me please?

there are buyers who simply avoided r15 for its step-up seat.

I heard the same too.. around the time when Suzuki Motorcycles India was trying to start out of its own in India. Unfortunately they started their solo innings with the 125 cc Heat/Zeus.

They showcased a diesel engine last month at the Geneva motor show. 1.6L for Civic. 1.4 for City and jazz plus 1.2 for Brio is in the pipeline. India may see the Brio engine this year itself and the other two by mid 2013. Honda unveils 1.6-L diesel motor - News - Autocar India

And if they combine both the units, we may see the Goldwing in the market It uses the same 1.8L engine that Civic has

Honda's car division in India isn't making any money for them from last couple of years, on the other hand two wheeler division is going great guns. So, this move is probably aimed at providing car division some cushion while Honda arranges for extra capital.

First of all, there has been no dope on the 1.4 and 1.2 Diesels as yet. It is all speculation. Though the 1.6 diesel Civic is speculated to be more fuel efficient than the 4 most fuel efficient cars currently sold in India (Chevy Beat D, 2012 Tata Nano, Indica CR4, Indigo CR4)

Secondly, the Honda Goldwing has a 1.8l Liquid-cooled flat-six, SOHC 2 valves per cylinder, whereas the Honda Civic has a 1.8l Liquid-cooled inline-four DOHC 4 valves per cylinder. So they are massively different engines.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
