  • Is it advisable to buy r15 Limited Edition white?

    Hia all,

I was waiting for gt250r for quite sometime, but seeing the launch video, the color scheme, and the announcement of 50% decrease in price in 18 months killed it.

Also, I run a small early stage startup of my own (bootstrapped), so don't want to splash out 3+L cash (bcos banks stopped considering me eligible for loan the day I stopped being salaried) on something that is yet to test waters on performance, on A.S.S and couple of other loaded questions dangling over it.

(Please dont advice for Ninja 250r, nothing against it.. but dont think I'd want one)

But, the gap between my last bike and now has grown quite a bit and driving the car to long rides is not any exhilarating as we all know.

Was thinking if I should take an r15 for the meantime as we watch how gt250r rolls into market and settles?

Test rode it. Loved it. (Best part - braking)
Not-so best part - Above 100 mark it felt as if "Hey, shouldnt I have been another 1/4 km ahead of where I am right now" ... guess thats effect of recent driving of friends P220 fi.

Liked 2 colors: Red with white tail (not fiery red) and LE white with red race stripes (dont like the stripes though).

    The showroom guy told me:

    1. Red with white tail is going to be stopped. Is it true?
    2. LE takes 3 months waiting time but if you book now we'll get you early (which is BS .. I know) right?
    3. and then somewhere in here (I guess) I read that LE side fairing costed someone Rs 2400 .. while normal ones are Rs. 800
    Can someone confirm this?
    4. Till how many more days is LE going to be still available
    5. Will availability of LE parts become difficult within next year span.

Was thinking of taking LE, removing the stripes and getting it done like the r1 in these pics:

and do something with the headlights because I really hate them. Only part in v2.0 that they forgot to update..should have taken r6 inspired split headlights or r1 inspired eye with curvy bottom.

Anyone knows answers to above 1,2,3,4,5?
    Any advices?
Any one knows where to get those graphics done?
    Crash bobbins anyone?
Matching riding gear? Liked triton red jacket but cant find a affordable wrist above gloves.

    Advance Thanks
    Krish

I got a black one two weeks back

Here is why i wanted the LE so much
        1) Looks cool
        2) The Anniversary edition so part of GP
        3) Eye candy

Here is why i went for black instead of LE
        1) Panels are costly of the LE. Same stuff costs 45% more.
        2) There is a huge waiting because they are not manufactured on regular basis, if you crash keep it in your garage for atleast a month.
        3) Engine and other parts are freaking costly just because you got a LE, Confirmed this by Workshop Manager - Nitin -YFS PUNE. Even the clutch plates which are same for the normal colors cost more if you have a LE.
        4) They promised 50 would be created per state or territory, browse Xbhp carefully and you will find more than 50 here itself from one state. Its not LE anymore.
        5) Chuck the waiting period of 6months, thats bullshit, just a gimmick to sell it to you, thats straight from the lot.

In all i just sorted out that LE is just for the color and a costly maintenance bike, though it incorporates the same power plant. This is not a view point either its a fact. Dont believe, call up your city SVC center, tell them you own a LE and you need to change Chain sprocket, or clutch plates or even the brake pads for that matter, see the price, note it down. Call again and ask the same but tell em that you got a blue or black one (make sure its from a different number and there is a huge time difference).

They have messed up quite a bit for the LE one. So i suggest you that go for regular colors and tension free.

Rest about the crash bobbins - it cost more than the panels. You are risking the chassis too, bobbins are bolted on the chassis, so during a fall expect that to take a direct hit which I think your pocket wont be happy about.

Decals and all its a personal choice, find a good decal shop and get it done. You can even paint a 36,24 body with no inners on it if you want. :P
        Hope this helps.

They say Yamaha is stopping the regular red r15 !
Does anyone know if this is true

Oh crap. same as bull guards for cars I guess.
Wondering how it works out for r6 or r1... They do have provisions for bobbins to fit in easy right?

Not exactly as this is not my first motor cycle. Its pretty much the same but yes there is a power up which i can feel down my nerve.

Flame red and LE were going to be stopped anyways, these are not permanent colors buddy. Regular ones will continue to shine.

Yes they do, but their bobbins are cheap compared to the panel cost. An R1 side panel costs around 18k (please recheck), Bobbins cost - 5,000-8,000. Same design is used for our R15's now you do the math.

            Replied in bold.

Could you please enlighten on the bold part.

To my knowledge the components are same but highly priced.

Sales and service for any Limited edition are always at higher side for any brands!!

Because as limited edition are released few, so sales are few numbers, spares parts are also produced as per demand ratios only!!

I am riding R15 and i have seen my bike always reaching 122kmph in few secs!!

And you felt the slag in just crossing 100kmph, very strange my friend!!

And if you are planning for GT250r in next 18-24 months then it doesn't make sense buying a R15 for just that period!!

Not flaming red.. the showroom guys say that the "regular" red is going to phase out & one of them said its not available already.. or just 1 or 2 pieces left.

I'm too weak ... got my LE r15 version 2.0 yesterday.

Currently overloaded on work front, as well as I have to get gear shifting on the bike checked. (some other initial teething issues too).
