  • Need Help In Choosing SBK For A Friend!!!

    Hi,

A friend of mine is planning to buy SBK by Jan-Feb 2013. As premium fuels are not available in his town, I suggested him to look at Yamaha FZ1, Honda CB1000R & Suzuki Bandit but he is more inclined towards fully faired bikes. So I searched our "Superbike And Imports" thread & found out that Suzuki Hayabusa is fine with low Octane fuel but unfortunately he is not interested in Hayabusa. Now I again searched a bit & I came to know that 2012 Honda CBR1000RR is the only fully faired SBK in India with lowest compression ratio i.e. 12.3:1 so what do you think guys, is CBR1000RR capable of running on normal fuel without knocking?

PS: Reply only if you're sure as I don't want him to curse me afterwards.

    Regards.

    Thread Approved
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I owned a CBR 1000RR in 2005. I used to put "power" petrol regularly as high octane petrol was sparsely available. Bike worked pretty fine and i did not feel any difference. But i filled speed 97 in my bike whenever possible ( For psycological satisfaction). IMO there was no difference and bike performed absolutely normal.

I’d really appreciate some opinions on this topic from SBK experts.

There was a friend of mine who had a R1 and he use to fill regular petrol. And he din't face any issue with it. Later he sold his bike in 3 yrs brought a CBR fireblade and i guess even in that he use to put regular fuel with Speed some time!!.

@Mod : Xbhp Member "kid0m4n" who recently bought 2012 Honda CBR1000RR confirmed that Fireblade runs fine even with Normal Petrol so you can now close this thread. Thankyou everyone for replying here
