  • Please help me to choose my 2nd Bike :-)

    Hi Guys,

I have previously owned a Yamaha Fazer Sports. I loved that bike because of it's look and broad tyres. But after an accident last December, I had to sell my bike (Financial problems also ). Now I have decided to get another. These are my requirements:-

    1) I am 5'11" and 90 Kg . So it should suit me by look.

    2) I travel to my office 20 km up and down everyday under city condition.

    3) The bike should be able to throw minimum 110 km on highway without any issue, stress, vibration or anything else (My Fazer used to behave like a dying machine at this speed while I was riding the bike on so fine highway - Tindivanam -Pondicherry )

    4) Bike should be able to do sharp cornering, specially in hairpin curves and push itself enough in uphill (My Fazer was a joy in this - 36 hairpin curves, Ooty - although engines gets hot )

    5) FE should be within 40-45.

    6) Bike should be comfortable enough with a pillion to travel 500-600 km in one go. As I am 5'11", I prefer a comfortable seating position with a pillion.

    7) Bike electricals and battery should be decent enough to handle a good HID unit for night highway ride with enough illumination. (Fazer's stock was so so poor )

    8) Tyres should broad enough to hold the grip anytime anywhere. (Fazer beats everyone in this I think)

    9) My max budget is 1,30,000 on road. Resell value also in mind

    10) As there many new technologies in the industry now (I am a novice), I welcome everyone's suggestion/s, advice/s regarding choosing my new bike.

    Thanks in advance

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

      Tricky requirements!!.

P200NS, is the best for your height if you don't middle little less low end torque and not so sure re-sale value. Decent pillion, FE, tyres, lights, cruising at 110 etc.

Next, ZMR may suite your requirements to the maximum extent except for tyres, HID and little difficult in city. Other than that it may suit your look, long distance travel, pillion comfort, price point, FE, cruising in 110 and decent electricals except 35w bulb.

r15 - no because of the word pillion and city usage.
duke - little expensive(1.5l, on road Blr), and less pillion.
Cbr 150r - 10 k more than your budget. Not sure if it will suite your look. Other than these , this suits best your requirements.
RE - except for city usage and little extra pampering this may also suit you.

better TD the choices couple of times.
Riding 17.6 horses out of which 5 horses work in the city and other 12+ horses wake up after 6k rpm and run after 8k rpm

Time to buy back your fazer and fit 15T sprocket + projector.

If the first option is not possible - P220 sans the mileage or CBR150R sans the pricing or Pulsar 180 if you dont mind the outdated looks.

          you need a pulsar 200 ns,that's it.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

Actually i see your requirment as City commuter +Sports features !!

            Cornering in city bike !!

Well So NS 200 satisfies you almost all demands but people say it don't give 40-45kml!!! They say it gives 30-35kmpl. The power it posses it's fine figures. But still if you get over 35kmpl then it's bonus. I had asked many NS200 owners on highway tea stall or while commuting to office they all say 30-35kmpl only. It might be becuase they are using it on highway with 80+kmph mostly.

NS200 lacks city torque !! So as you were using Frazer so you will find NS200 boring in city. more gear shifting, etc.

Tyres of NS200 is also not that good to corner or enjoy the mark of 120+kmph. You have to get it changed.

The other bike which fits is Duke but you won't find pillion comfort or self comfort for long rides, this can be achived by mod the seat foams and see.

Cornering is something which comes with high power/performance bikes, in Which CBR 150/ R15 And duke are listet. R15 or CBR is not for city INMO.

You can check CBR 150 also, it has balanced city torque as well highway performance with pillion comfort. average would be 35-43kmpl.

I thought, it was only me who is still considering this mean machine. It's really a nice package overall.

200NS or ZMR will fill your requirements..

P200NS doesn't have good low end torque though but its pretty quick & fast as well..ZMR is much more comfortable..both will do speeds of 110kmph easily..mileage will be around 40kmpl for both machines..

Pick the 200NS it will be the most apt bike for your needs. But I think you are asking little too much with the FE. Expecting a bike to be able to cruise smoothly at 110 and at the same time give a FE of 40~45 is asking too much. Other than that it fills in all other criteria you've asked for.

I guess you would be satisfied by CBR150R...not sure about the cornering ability though or else its within your budget, Honda has good re-sale, latest tech. quite enough broad tyres, etc.

CBR 150R is a sport bike and a track machine with very good cornering abilities. It has good tyres slightly less sticky than R15 but better than many in that segment.

Two things which may be against CBR 150R from your requirements are 1. it is 10-12k more than your budget in BLR. 2. Test drive it thoroughly for your comfort based on your looks and the check the low end torque for city with a pillion as it requires high level of gear engagements.

                        .
Correc t me if I am wrong ?
CBR 150 is also based on same frame design on CBR 250 ? So how come CBR 250 is not a track machine and CBR 150 is a Track Machine ?

I have heard manytime that CBR 150 is a track Machine but just want to be confirm on it, because When i was cornering over CBR 150 I din't find as effective as R15 ??

Not much of a difference.. Just a chassis difference is there
