  • Whining Noise in Pulsar 200 NS , identifiable at low speeds

    Guys I have bought a pulsar 200 NS, still in Running period.

    Its a great bike, I absolutely love it. Please don't get your spirits down by seeing the question here.

    The achiles heel for my bike is while I am starting the bike and starts riding I can hear a kind of noice, screeching or whining sort of noise.
    Its not that audible , but its irritating as far as I am concerned. The issue is I can't Identify what is the cause.. , I have asked SVC guys they were not able to 'reproduce' it.
    So if anybody have any idea of what causes the issue, please let me know so that I can get it fixed ASAP.

    My bikes odo is at 240KMs right now, @ Bangalore. If you guys have the solution for the issue as well then the merrier it is.

    Advice is a form of nostalgia.
    Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

      200NS is Liquid Cooled right.? It got a radiator...maybe it have something to do with the whining sound.

      Try riding some other NS and notice if they are having it..

        If it is a metal kind of whining then, it is your disc pads rubbing the disc. This is a common issue and the SVC can rectify it (got it rectified today).

        Or if it is the whining of the engine while riding in gear, i think it is common to most bikes. Just my 2 cents.

          @Jishnu

          Thanks Bro,
          I would take it to the Service center tomorrow,would make it a point to check it.

          @Vivek

          Thanks for the Update Bro, I appreaciate it.
          It is not from the engine, could be the disk issue.
          Would check it as well when I take it to the service center.

          Guys please pitch in any suggestions you have on the same.

            If its coming only at less than 30-40 km/hr.. its from the tyres.. Fz rear tyre is notorious for that. I hope the NS is equipped with a similar one from MRF. It would go at around 2000-3000 kms (if I remember it correctly on my bike). Its a sound like a small plastic sheet rubbing beneath the tyres.

              @Muztariq

              Bro, I am not sure whether its from tyres or not , Pulsar 200NS sports Eurogrip Tyres from TVS.

              Its kind of rubbing or shrieking sound, yet to identify from where it is coming though

                Thanks Vivek, The issue seems to be coming from the rear disk brake.

                I tried pushing the bike with out starting for some distance, then we can find it easily.

                Would rectify it while giving for service.

                  Issue FIXED

                  Guys got this thing fixed,

                  as Vivek Suggested it was rear disk break shoes kissing the disk continuously.

                  Got it fixed during first service.

                  Auto Service Guys ( Bajaj Probiking service, They are really good) understood it when I said whining noise may be from the disk.

                  Thanks Vivek for your input..

                    Hi ,
                    I own a 200NS and had done 5.3K on it.
                    There was one more issue with the whining noise and it was basically coming from the head assembly.
                    There is a small gap between the visor and the part on which it is bolted.

                    i fixed it by removing the visor and saw a white lining where the visor would have been shaking on the
                    black facia on which is it is mounted.
                    i got a damping tape from the market and stick it on the rubbing region. Then put back the whole assembly.

                    This solved my problem...

                    i hope none should face this problem and if you do try this. i hope it will work.

                        Hi Muztariq,

                        Mate, I have a beep like sound coming from FZS and its still done 150kms and two weeks old. Is it the wheel or something else? At fast speeds it goes and is pretty audible when below 30kmph.

                          If its a deep whining sound, its from the rear tire. Have you heard the sound coming from a car's tire? That constant sound! Its similar on the FZ. Shall go away by the time you complete 2nd service.
                          If its metal kinda screech sound, its the disc!

                            Buddy, it Could be from rear disk rubbing the brake shoes.

                            That was mine. But since FZ doesn't come with rear disk it most probably should be from tyres.

                              Hi,
                              My NS is currently 830 kms on ODO.
                              The problem is that the bike makes same kind of whining noise as discussed here...
                              its so irritating at low speeds...and more importantly i can feel the vibrations on right foot (only)...
                              its more audible and vibrating while decelerating (closing the throttle)...
                              P.S: done with 1st service & tht SVC guy removed the brake pads and rubbed it on some sand paper...
                              plz help me!!
