  • [Photo Feature]: Ninja 650 Goes Touring ! Lucknow - Bhutan - Lucknow

Sailing out in the high seas I always dreamt of going for a long ride since max I had done was short rides in and around Lucknow and those living in here will be knowing pretty well that we do not really have many options to give us variety ! A couple of times plans were made and discussions were held and eventually rides cancelled due to some or the other reasons. Yes I know I am boring you.. Let us start with a teaser pic to begin with.

4 riders were confirmed. 29th Nov evening we held a final meeting with our riding group including those going for this tour. 2 guys announced that they will not be able to make it for the tour. That was a shock ! My heart sank since I was determined to go this time and was not willing to let go of my dream this time again

So we were 2 riders left: Atul and myself. Yes we were determined and started preparing ourselves mentally to do this on our own and started deciding the kick off time, things to carry, meeting point etc., when Ajay gave that cunning smile n took out a stack of cash with a big grin on his face and we knew that he was IN. So now we were 3 riders and hell yeah we were excited !!

Had some coffee and exchanged some final talks and that was it for the night!

More to follow soon.. Lots to come..

P.S.: This being my first Trip Log ever so kindly bear with me and do advise me if there is something i need to change or edit to make this look better and/or any corrections to be made ! Thanks and I hope you guys like what you see ahead Click image for larger version

For my Ninja i did not carry any spares at all since there was nothing in stock at the SVC
only carried a small amount of engine oil just in case I needed to top up (which did not happen).

Woke up on time.. it was pitch dark.. got ready, had some tea and made final checks on the ninja. Strapped on the panniers. Posed for the camera and off I left to meet fellow riders.

At the meeting point we were surprised by the presence of Ambar, who never ever gave a single hint to join us! So here we were all smiling and started with our chain lubing and checks on all bikes.

                Day 1 Cont.

Vrrrom vrroomm vrrrroooooooommmmm and off we went with hundreds of kms ahead of us!!
It was a cold dark winter morning. The shining new tarmac on the Faizabad road (NH 28 ) had been a treat to many of us on a lot of occasions for our breakfast rides.. This tour also started off from the same route so we knew our first pitstop would be our favourite brunch/lunch destination near Lucknow: Trimurti Restaurant it was. Took a butt break before that. Zoomed past the minimal city traffic in the morning.

As usual, a bunch of car/pickup drivers took it as an insult to be overtaken by 2 wheels !! They tried and tried... Needless to say any further.. But they still tried their best ! A white Indigo driver was the first one to get a real taste of some tandoori hot 2 wheelers who played with him.. But he was so eager .. Yes he still tried ..

A happy-go-merry short run upto the breakfast break point ended with smiles all over

The sun had come up by now and was shining bright.. Cold turned to cozy.. Picked on some freshly cooked parathas/pakoras and tea.. A few minutes later we hit the road again..

... hahahaha i still cant control myself when i think about it.. But this became my favourite answer to one and all questions I was asked by all strangers in there.

We moved on.. the bad stretch continued for another few kms before we got a treat in Bihar.. NH28 was brilliant in there too.. the usual butt breaks followed after every 50 to 60 kms till we reached our first destination for a night stay: Darbhanga, Bihar.

Sadly all the fun in UP is happening after I have shifted to Delhi. Yes for two years I looked and looked for riders from Kanpur to no avail

A place where people boast that they never got caught for not wearing a helmet takes time to grow up ! Maybe the next generation will see some good days in here like we get to see down south for example!
