From the way I see it, the problem could be any of the below:

1. Delhi's dusty environment. Yes, dust can even penetrate K&N filters, specially if the airbox is removed. Most K&N products are designed keeping in mind the USA's environment and USA's products. And all of them are recommended to be used with Airboxes only, not without them.
OR
2. Maybe the extra airflow (after removing airbox) is too much for the bike and it is running lean to a heavy extent. Which means it could require a bigger carb main jet.
OR
3. The cleaning technique could have been wrong, thus damaging the filter itself. For example, K&N's should not be cleaned with pressurized water/ air, as it will be damaged instantly and has to be disposed off then.


BUT, to pinpoint the exact problem among the above 3 points, the information you provided is just not enough.

Which K&N filter model exactly are you talking about? When you tuned it in Indore, did you get the carburetor's main jet changed? Was its AFR tuned well by the mechanic? And how did you clean the K&N exactly?

Do one more test: Start the bike and let it idle without throttle in neutral. Do you see the rpm/ tacho needle going up and down automatically?

Help Needed Installing K&N BA2210 Air Filter and NGK Irridium Spark in Pulsar 150

Hi,
I own a Pulsar 150 UG4 Model of 2010 and I have done 12000Km with it. I want to install NGK iridium and K&N BA-2210 Air filter in my bike. But from some sources I heard that installing K&N may ruin my bike. Is it true? Need suggestion guys....

Agree to all points. Additionally, TS may get his carb checked. Maybe the slide gets stuck. Moreover, its not clear if he has put in bigger jets. And removing the box was a bad idea!

Stock is best. Stay stock, have peace of mind. There are no performance gains with K&N or any after-market filters on our puny < 250cc mills. At max you may experience a slight change in the torque curve, but that requires immense troubleshooting and DIY.
