You are right. This is majorly brand building, and a solid one at that! The bikers at large need to know whose baby is the KTM200!

Dear KTM how about an rc8 version for the aam aadmi in this country?

Besides that it's good to see some manufactures taking our market seriously.

No plans to launch the RC8 here...it will only be on display at select KTM showrooms. The RC25 may see the Indian sunlight though!
And that will be the mango people's rc8...just like the R15 is the desi R1!

Why question mark in the title and the picture? Is the RC8 unveiling not confirmed yet?

Why would they not bring one of their Exc series or Adventure or for that matter bigger Duke which are more signature KTM bikes rather than showing RC8 which has been rated as worst sports bike in its category?

It is irrelevant where the KTM RC8 stands compared to other superbikes. For KTM, it is about showcasing their premium and flagship model in a country where it is not as popular as the Japanese or Italians or the American (Harley). As Sunny has mentioned, it is a major brand building exercise by KTM and showing off their flagship model is the best way to do it.

And just for the argument's sake, RC8 may not be the best but it is still a very good superbike offering a very unique experience to its owner.

And it's not as bad as you think:

I guess the RC8 because they intend to bring a smaller bike on the same platform, and they want the prospective clients to know what they can expect in the very near future (Read 1-2 years time frame)

What is interesting is that KTM is promoting itself as a sportsbike brand instead of the off-road brand which it is famous for worldwide. Signs of the baby RC8 to come.
Are sportsbikes so sought after in India? That KTM has to say, "Look we also make big faired bikes, please buy ours 250cc sportsbike! (when we make one)"
