New Pulsar 200NS or old Pulsar 220 : Bike purchase dilemma

    New Pulsar 200NS or old Pulsar 220 : Bike purchase dilemma

    Hey friends,

    I am a moderate tourer on the weekends and a heavy commuter daily on my Yamaha SZR. I am interested in upgrading my bike and am stuck with a big dilemma;

    I have 2 choices and I am not able to decide on one .. My 2 choices are

    a) Pulsar 200 NS : brand new, 1lakh but great features, amazing cornering machine and light (for my daily commuting needs). But it lacks windshield for touring and the low end grunt needed for city rides.

    b) Pulsar 220 : friend's bike , 50k quote; Its a 2 yr old bike and maintained well. I know that this is an amazing tourer and has windshield but its not a great cornering bike. It has low end grunt but is heavier than 200NS.

    My doubt is, given that I want Touring_Wind_Protection+ City Commuting comfort + Decent Mileage,
    a) Should I save 50k and go for 220
    OR
    b) pay 1lakh full and go for P200NS..

    Please do know that I am planning to purchase a bigger bike and saving up for the Katoom 390 is definitely on my mind.

    So yeah, thats what is on my mind now... Please pitch in with your thoughts and help me !!

      2 reasons why you should go for the P220:

      1. You are looking for touring/wind protection and the p220 is just that. It equals the 200NS in terms of comfort and almost similar FE
      2. You are planning to upgrade to D390 anyway. So why spend a hefty amount on a new bike now?


      BTW, the KTM is not a tourer...so won't you miss the wind protection and windshield?

        YoU already have a SZR and planning to buy a D390.

        So where is the need of buying a middle bike before going to D390 ?? unless you have lot od money.

        Save money in coming months and go for D390 directly.
        INMO no need to buy a second hand P220 or new NS200 at all.

        For city travel SZR is much better than P220 or NS200.

        So when you have planned to upgrade than go for D390 directly when there are money. untill then adjut with SZR!

          If you are planning to buy KTM390 than better buy P220 for 50K or continue with your SZR till you buy the KTM. Buy the 200NS if you are planning to buy the KTM few years later
