Avoid central India, go via Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and then cut back into Andhra from Pune. Longer yes, safer yes. Heat in Rajasthan big YES!!!

although central india is unsafe, it has natural beauty, mountains, jungles and what not... i love that route since i was a child. riding on that route gives a feeling that you are cut-off from the rest of the world and in a world of your own.

but yes its a little bit unsafe. try to ride only during the daytime.

if you do not have sufficient experience as a tourer, try not to do it alone, take a friend along. if possible one more bike. touring in peak summer needs strength and determination.

this is not to discourage you but to increase your level of preparedness.

Thanks prince but i am relocating and will have to go alone. Have done 2-3 tours but not alone . What do you say

Central India route is not as good as Western India, which is also longer; it's safe to ride through broad day light

here's the screenshot of the recommended route.

- suggest that u take @least 4 days to do this.
- even if u r a seasoned tourer, i insist that u take it easy.
- the sun & the heat & the heat-blast from the tar &/or cement road is very intense, not to mention the gusty hot cross winds.
- for most mumbai to delhi tourers, udaipur is the most logical pitstop where people tuck in & resume their trip the next day.
- road condition in general is fair / fairly good.

how to remain cool?
- start super early & cover as much ground as u can before the sun is up.
- be careful & cautious during the 30~45 mins of the 'twilight zone' - sunrise & sunset both - the most dangerous phase when sunlight is not adequate enuff to see the route clearly & motorcycle headlight is no more useful than a candlelight.
- use meshed clothing, cotton clothes, carry mixture of water, limejuice, ginger, sugar & sip on it every 150kms odd. u may also carry sachets of Electrol [available @ any chemist] & consume half the content of a sachet every 4 hrs.
- carry a can of jaggery [gud] & pop one or two chunks in ur mouth - do NOT chew on them - let them last n last - jaggery makes u salivate & that helps keep ur mouth & throat wet - helps in lessening down the thirst.
- take a break of 5~10 mins every 150~200 kms.
- u may carry longish thick napkins / towels - dip them in water @ the dhaba stop-overs & plonk those on ur fuel tank such that they are on either side of the engine bay - will save u a bit from the engine heat-blast for a few mins / couple of hrs.
- u may also place a wet napkin on the back / nape of ur neck [area between ur back / shoulders & the helmet] - having a cool feeling there is often soothing for many riders, in intense heat.
- keep urself WELL HYDRATED thru the journey.
- make it a habit of topping ur water supplies AND your fuel tank the minute is it @ 50% - u never know when the next pitstop will be - so ride as if the current one were your last :-)
and no matter that u do... do NOT compromise on ur personal safety / riding gear etc. & avoid riding in the night as far as possible.
do not take the central india route though - other folks have rightfully advised u against it.

How about this route: New Delhi>Jaipur>Bhilwara>Chittaurgarh>Indore>Burhanpu r>Nizamabad>Hyderabad? I have not driven on Indore - Hyderabad stretch, but, I am told, this route is good except some bad stretches.

If I were you, I'd take the route mentioned by [MENTION=61028]whymail[/MENTION]

Both depends on you as what you're comfortable & what you ride; personally, I would do a very longer route, something like, Delhi to Ankaleshwar, Ankaleshwar to Pune, Pune to Bangalore & may or may not push from Bangalore to Hyderabad

iam not going for touring , i am relocating myself and the NOC procedure is cumbersome taking a lot of time so i have decided to go by my own.
