  • I want LUNGS and better SPRINGS. Monoshock and Airfilter

Hello everyone, I am Rahul, a ROOKIE at xbhp but not to biking.I got a K&N RC-1060(YES,I got it instead of BA-2201).Before you guys kill me for doing that i would like to tell that I want to fit a monoshock to my p180 ug4 and need some advice.I have got a custom built airbox for the filter.I willl get the mounting bracket from a DESTROYED chasis of FZ-S for monoshock and swing arm from R15.

    My questions are-
1)Can I go for a flatside carb with this conical air filter,If yes thasn which one?
2)Does adding a monoshock to dual shocked bike spoil bike balance (Found this thing on many xbhp threads)?
3)Does using a monoshock from Bajaj Pulsar 200NS makes sense?
4)And Is it advisable to get my bike "JOELED"?(I trust JOEL but heard that they are not reliable from a lot of idiots who don't even own a ride.)

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

        2) Yes it will indeed spoil the balance.
        3) It won't be plug and play, if you're asking.

May we know what is the purpose of monoshocking the bike?
        As far as I know,
        Dual shock = comfort.
        Monoshock = handling.
home made monoshock = none of the above but only show-off.

@ lockhrt999 thanks for your advice man.... after googleING for 2-3 days i have decided to drop this idea....but this decision is still a MAYBE. Purpose : I want to raise the ground clearence of my bike, main stand is none less than a pain while cornering and at bumps.....

Then get rid of middle stand. Lots of folks do that.
Secondly you could set rear suspension to most stiff setting that way ground clearance sure will increase by few MM. But also note that, taller is your ride hard it is to control around corner.

Agree with you but the shock absorbers are at its most stiff settings and i m 6 feet tall so its not a problem....but i need to improve handling....even ready to get a new chasis. I think getting rid of mainstad is best solution available.

I dont know why people are discouraging you about the monoshock. I have it and my bike is as stable as it was when stock, but there is a downside too, when with a pillion the bike bottoms out quite easily and feels very soft, but when I ride alone the bike feels much agile and is more precise, but this is because I got it done from someone I trust very well and he knew what he was doing because he has done it many times. But yes I have friends who got it done for much lesser from others and are having problems, one of them was a P150/180(originally 150 but changed block+head+many internals to 180) and his bike now always tilts to the right and the mountings have had to be re-welded 2 times.

Here is an old pic of the bike and the person is here in Mumbai. He charges a premium for his work nearly 100% more than others.
