    Honda Motorcycles India to bring in house bike within a year: xBhp News

    Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) are hoping to launch their first in house built motorcycle within a year.



    Honda has invested around Rs 150 crore in their integrated Technical Centre at Manesar facility. There are 200 engineers working at this centre, with half from HMSI and the other half from Honda Research & Development India.

    HMSI is also looking to setup a fourth plant in India. But the search for a suitable place is still cautious at best.

          If they are investing so much, when they already have enough technology available with them in Japan....they would be planning for something very unique for the power craving but price sensitive Indian market. May be a low cost, powerful 200-250cc engine without FI or something like that.

            As looking honda's current mood and one by one launch of dream yuga and Activa-I, I can bet its gonna be a same kind of product like a scooter or a bike...

              designed in india product by honda.... sounds good, but it just might be a case of localized in india, of an already running two-wheeler, with some minor tweaking here and there.

              let us just hope it is something other than the commuter class....

                Designed, developed and built in India. Currently the bikes are only built in India. But with its new R&D in Manesar, Honda is currently doing R&D for their new motorcycle. Apparently will be launched within a year.

                        Does it make sense to R&D a new engine when Honda already has new version engines in 150,250,300,400 cc ranges. I am sure Honda would not be researching on engines beyond 600cc for the Indian market.

                          On the contrary, Honda might be getting a tiny engine which can give oodles of torque and efficiency, which can withstand the strains of zero maintenance and crap quality of fuel in developing and third world countries. Just a guess though.

                            This makes more sense. But then again another 100cc in the already "Kitna deti hai" conscious market ???

                              Why not. The largest selling category. Who wouldn't want to profit from it. Maybe not what enthusiasts want to hear, they just want 400-500-1000-2000cc bikes. But the company wants to see money
