    Vespa VX Scooter launched at Rs 71380/-: xBhp News

    Vespa, the iconic scooter brand owned by Piaggio has launched another variant of its scooter.



    Vespa VX is the same 125cc engine scooter with new features. It will now sport a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensing, 3-valve engine, Variable Spark Timing Management, better claimed mileage and brakes.

    The new VX version of the Vespa scooter engine produces 10.06Ps @ 7500 rpm and 10.6 Nm @ 6000 rpm. It also sports a monocoque chassis and single sided suspension at the rear. It will be available in Metallic Green and dual tone red and Pink.

    The pricing of the scooter is expected by 20th of this month.

            SIGH!! the color note..... Somehow, the current vespas remind me of Chacha Choudhary's scooter (Anybody knows the character??)
            On a lighter note, the pic is not justified; I would've wanted to see the girl's face

                      Vespa VX 125 launched @ INR 71380


                      It isn’t too tough to deny the fact that while the Piaggio Vespa LX125 automatic scooter grabbed a lot of eyeballs when it was first launched in the ever growing Indian scooter market, the decidedly cool retro styled scooter has failed to transform all that interest into sales. Much of this can be attributed to the high sticker price of the scoot. The Indian division of Italian bike maker did resort to price cuts towards the beginning of this year but unfortunately, sales haven’t yet picked up.While the Piaggio Vespa LX125 is now only a little dearer than other automatic scooters in its segments, it misses out on features like a front disc brake.It seems like Piaggio India has now taken notice of it and has hence launched a new variant of the Vespa. Christened as the Vespa VX 125, the new scooter comes equipped with more equipment and will come with new paint options. The VX 125 comes equipped with a 200mm front disc brake, MRF Zapper tubeless tires, two new paint options (Vibrant Rosa and Metallic Green) and a new grab rail. The scooter also gets a beige seat option with
                      Rosso Dragon and Midnight Blue paint options. (We can already picture a few Vespas with untidy looking seats).
                      Mechanically, the Vespa VX remains unchanged and continues to be powered by the same 125cc, four stroke, 3-valve single cylinder engine that has a max power output of 10.06PS@7,500rpm and peak torque of 10.6Nm@6,000rpm. The motor comes mated to a CVT transmission. The scooter features monocoque chassis and linked suspension at front and single-sided suspension at rear.It will be interesting to see if the new variant, equipped with more features, would be able to endow the tasty looking scooter with better sales performance.The new Vespa VX is priced at INR 71,380 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This means that the Vexpa VX 125 is only a little pricier than Vespa LX, which becomes the base model.

                        Italian auto manufacturer Piaggio launched the Vespa VX at Rs 71380/- ex- showroom Delhi.

                        The company, which is present in India through a wholly- owned subsidiary-Piaggio Vehicles, currently sells one scooter model--Vespa LX in the country.

                        Piaggio Vehicles (India) Chairman and Managing Director Ravi Chopra

                        "We hope to further strengthen the premium segment with the Vespa VX,
                        "

                        He added that since the launch of the first Vespa model last year in the country, the company has so far sold 52,000 units of the scooter.

                        "After the success of the first phase in Vespa launch with a single model just over a year ago, Piaggio is now moving into the second phase for the expansion of the product range,"
                        When asked if the company is planning to further expand the scooter range in the country, Chopra said:
                        "There can be another product launch by the end of this year. We want to have different products for different consumer needs".
                        He added that the company would like to cater to the premium scooter segment and was not planning to venture into the commuter segment.

                        "We are looking to create a premium luxury segment (in scooters) which is non existent at the moment,"
                        The Vespa VX model, powered by 125 cc engine developed by Piaggio exclusively for the Indian market. It comes with various features like front disc brakes and tubeless tyres.

                            BTW, lately I am seeing a lot of yellow ones. I can relate to the premium nature but honestly, what's with the colors, man!!
