  • Your reasons for buying the bike

Hey guys lets discuss your reason for buying the particular model.

    Model : Yamaha R15
Reason : I wont beat around the bush, i got hooked because of the looks, and the performance is not bad either.

Another reason was that this bike is a very very good starting point if you are thinking of buying a SBK and want to get used to the sitting position and handling etc, so this bike can be used as a kind of training ground before you actually go for a SBK

I have seen people say that they bought R15 because it looks almost like R1, and since they could not afford a R1 they bought a R15 instead. (Which in my humble opinion is wrong). Make no mistake this is not a superbike by any standards (OK maybe indian standards but that is one thing which needs to be changed right?)

to be frank mine was a random decision! But i certainly did'nt want a pulsar. got bored of riding it every other day. CBZX was way to big for me. My bro liked RTR and my dad too......so went in for it!

        Bullet Electra 4s

thanks for the mod/owner for re-activating my id.

My Motorcycle : Royal Enfield Bullet 350cc Electra 4s.
I used bajaj pulsar 180 dts-i for brief 2 months.and I swapped it for this Bull 2005 model.
reason: I want comfort and my late found love for bullets.almost was going for an yezdi 94 model when bull electra 4s came to me.
it is comfortable for obese person(104kg) like me.the low end torque(esp with heavy crank models) is very nice.

the negative side if you can talk about bullets are many.but electra models are relatively fine.and unlike foreigners who needs 90mph speed ,we can cruise fine in our highways with bullet at 65-70kmph.
Bullets are supposedly prone to engine seize at any speeds above 80kmph continuously.even the 350cc ones also got a *weak* oil pump.this bike is still essentially a 1955 model. .so taking care of it like 3000kms oil change ,filter change etc are mandatory.also you need to get a 20W50 engine oil like veedol and 10W30 clutch oil for which you can use 10W30 hero honda oil.

tappet noise is the common problems with bullets.I am gone for custom brass valveguides due to recommendation by my mechanic.I have to complete 500kms(300kms completed) carefully with speeds less than 55kmph and no engine strains reason to have valve seatings done and will be adjusted correctly after this small running-in period.

parts falling off - this is one of the reason many people says about bullets.I dont find such problems with my electra.may be it is somewhat better than std bullets.
for good thump ,change the silencer to short bottle one.you can find pictures of my bullet electra 4S dark blue here:

          RTR all the way

This was going to be my 1st ever bike, and when i say 1st i mean 1st since a bicycle....... i had decided to go for a platina even, and then a thought struck, so what if i dont know to ride, i might as well learn to ride on the bike which i would be proud to own for the next 2 years atleast..so i moved up the segment ...125...135....150....and then there was 160.

hmm that's a strange segment i thought, the looks were killer, even better that the old Apache and i new when i saw one on the road that the performance and grunt must count for something...and the price was right too <70K (talkin bout the RTR carb here).. was bored of seeing the pulsars all over the place(no offence, i agree they kickstarted the so called performance segment)..was light weight too.. not bulky

and then the research started, poured over hundreds of reviews, all went ga ga over this piece of machine..so after 3 months of research i went ahead with what my heart said and and got it on loan, got it delivered on feb 14th , how's that for a delivery date....so what if a friend had to ride it home from the showroom with me as pillion?? 6 months down the line i couldnt be happier, i havent faced many of the problems other RTR owners have, maybe i got lucky, went on quite a few tours too.

i believe it is the best bike for beginners, very much forgiving, built to last i would say..the handling of the bike gives even a novice like me the confidence to try new things...

Finally a big thankyou to TVS for breaking the mould

the one and only P150 classic....

I wanted a Yamaha RX135 (RX100 was out of production) when 18, but dad didn't let me have it due to fuel economy. So I rode a cd100 for 2 n a half years and then came the P150. My cousin had got one in a few months of its launch and I just fell in love with it the moment I saw it. It's a cool bike to ride across and sounds great. So decided to go for it. The DTS-i launched a week after I got my bike so went to the showroom and had a ride. The bike felt very light like a splendor (PEACE) and it missed the feeling which I got after riding my bike, that made me very for getting the bike a week earlier. Its 5 years old but still goes great and has a great pickup.

                      Bullet Electra 4s 2004

The choice was between the just launched Karizma and the Bullet.
And I liked both the bikes, but on introspection I saw that I am the
'long-ride-at-a-steady-pace' kinda guy, or was at that time. I knew my dad wouldnt let me go in for the Bullet since he considered it a heavy bike and stuff. Plus my parents were quite paranoid about bikes. They preferred me getting a car, but I was not keen. Besides I was in Pune then, and you really gotta have a bike in Pune to take in all it sights and splendors.
So i told Dad I wanted a Bllet 500. I knew he wouldnt agree, and he didnt. Then I said, ok I'll settle for a 350, and he agreed as well. Heh. Reverse Psychology.
So I got my Royla Enfield Bullet Electra 2004 4s.
Done a few good trips on it.
                      Pune-Goa-Bangalore-Hyderabad in Jan 2006.
                      Delhi-Leh-Srinagar-Delhi in June 2007.

                      I love the bike.

Ps: Planning to get a Yamaha R6 or a Honda CBR 600RR soon to satisfy my other side. Heck..I am a Gemini!!

                        Honda Dio

Actual Reason : Well, as it was supposed to be my first bike, and upgrade from bicycles, it almost had to be a TVS Scooty or somthing like it. I persuaded my dad to go for somthing more powerful and better looking than the scooties, and the Honda Dio was the viable choice. I was smitten by the looks, especially the positioning of the headlight... It was way too different from all other bikes in the market at that time. Still LOVE my ride a lot.

Hypothetical Reason : Now, after being in xBhp since May 2005, and gaining a lot of gyaan about superbikes and stuff, I can safely conclude that the only reason why I had to go for Honda Dio was that, I could not afford a Fireblade. (Not that I can afford now... )
