  • [Photo Feature]: A Dream Come True: My Yamaha RD350

As far as I remember, I saw the mighty Yamaha RD350 when my dad used to own it. I was in 5th Standard at that time. It was red in color. But he sold it to a guy who came himself asking for it. When I grew up and passed my 10th with good marks I wanted RD350 as my first college bike. But luck was not with me that time. I searched for the beast at every corner of my city. Mr. Abhijat Kurhekar “AbhijatRD350” here knows this coz I sought some help from him. I even asked every mechanic in my city every one said a big NO or comments would be “Why are u taking a bike that consumes so much petrol?” or “There is so much shortage of its spare parts” etc. But still quest to lay hands on the mighty beast did not end. I completed my 10+2 on RX100 instead. After joining an engineering college I was used to surf internet many times. Here on xBHP I saw Mr. Rajat’s thread of rebuilding a RD. After so many years I was seeing the beast. I contacted him on Yahoo! and seeked help! He convinced me to go for a rebuild instead going for a already rebuilded bike. Then after few months I met Dr. Tanjot Ahuja on Orkut, I gave him Mr. Rajat’s reference. I told him that I wanted a scrap bike. Next day it was like magic his reply was “Yes there is one scrap LT which available with complete papers”. Actually he had arranged this bike for himself, but he decided to me gave it to me. Mr. Sumeet Mehdiratta was going to rebuild the whole bike. His work as usual was marvelous everything he did on bike is just superb. I would like to thank all three of em’ because of whom I am a proud owner of the RD. The specs of my bike are

    November 1985’ LT
Front Apache Disk, Rear OE Drum.
    STD Pistons.
    Rest all is OEM
It is running on GENUINE Yamaha CDI which was made for the RD itself.

    Here are the before pictures.

And here are the final pictures of the beast the “The Yamaha RD350”

Yep it will be possible, but 1st ull have to chk the PCD of the holes whr the disc mounts on the wheel. if it gets matched then u can fit it. otherwise ull have to do somekinda "JUGGAD"

How much the rebuild cost and how much time did it take
