  • Fuel Injection And The Indian Bikes........

The new breed of indian bikes are now coming with FUEL INJECTION....
    Though it offers-

1.Crisp and instant throttle responce (hell needed)
    2.No cold starts probs.
3.Better spread of power through out the rev range.
    4.Red line chasing nature

But where it lacks in terms of carburation is it cannot be mapped as per the scene of the indian bikes FUEL INJECTION goes....

It cannot be set to deliever more fuel if the intake of air is increased..
the good old carburater has the mixing screw....

though company settings are best to stick to but if there is a need to put on a K&N air filter or an aftermarket end can it can not be set to deliever fuel as per the changes needed after these replacements....

any suggestions how it can be set or mapped............

I think ECU maps the fuel flow accordingly if the air flow increases or descreases.

convertin a carb bike into a FI one is a very expensive option and i think wont be that much reliable too........
better is to buy a new FI bike....

The Fuel Injection unit is quite smart. It has an ECU which keeps checking the air density for the air-fuel mixture. For example, if you take a FI bike up in the hills, the ECU will make the changes to make sure the air-fuel mixture remains constant.

Accordingly, if you do put a K&N, the ECU will increase the amount of fuel going in slightly, to compensate for the increased air flow

still the question of anyone who has acctually done this???

coz watever be it if its not that very costly i would love to get my bike running more cleaner (yes i am a lil bit of an environmentalist as well)
and al get better mileage as well.......with a slight hike in power

so wat say guys and sunny and all the big bike guru's here????

Nikhil : Lot of guys here in Pune have done it on their P220s. I have ridden the bikes too, and they do feel a bit more punchier. Go ahead, do the mod job, and enjoy

He bro .. Nothing is impossible in this world and we are just talking about replacing technology here . But i think you should wait for some time as the FI technology in India is not that old .Its a new concept in Indian bikes unlike the Carbo version which is tested and proven . I still feel the Carbo veersion is good , if you are a rider and like to go places its good to have a technology which is familier to people . Any thing goes wrong you can get it repaired easly . I might sound bit like an oldy but its a fact . Think about the same .

Please correct me if i am wrong

Converting a Carb bike into a Fuel Injected one is bit of a complicated process, firstly fuel injected bikes have a higher compression ratio compared to other carb versions (9.5:1 for 200's and 11:1 for 220's), so you would have to change your engine parts accordingly to withstand the compression increase, else you might risk putting a piston through it's head, and you need to put a temperature sensor in the block, this actually acts sort of like how a jet acts in an carb, it decides what should be the mixture (rich or lean) compared to the temperature inside as well as outside, and this mod cannot be done unless you have all the blue-prints of the block and have enough money to go through a number of pistons, heads, valves, but in your case since it's a 200 you can simply go and buy yourself a 220's piston, head, valves, the outer block casing and anything else that is different between your 200 and a 220 and plonk it onto your bike, as simple as that

does this K&N filter increase the pick up or the efficiency or anything of the bike??? (sorry to ask a dumb question like this but i am new to the biking world)
