  • Unicorn or CBZxtreme or Pulsar 150?

Hey guys, I’m Adnan from Bangladesh. You should already know that in here more than 150cc bikes aren’t allowed. I need your help to choose my next bike which is going to buy in next 2 days.
    Here is my bikes history:
    1. Bajaj Caliber. (1 year owned)
    2. Bajaj Caliber Croma. (11 months owned)
    3. Bajaj Pulsar 2003 150cc. (4.5 years owned)
    4. Hero Honda CBZ xtreme. (7 months)
    5. Hero Honda Hunk. (4 monts)
    6. Bajaj Pulsar 2008 150cc digital console. (1 month and continue to two more days)

Right now I have Bajaj Pulsar 2008 150cc digital console Black color, done 1700km but some reasons (don’t like the black color, scratch magnet and while riding, between 40kmph to 60kmph the handle vibrate left to right to left continuously, if I take off my hands from handle then it vibrate more fast) I decided to sell it and get a new bikes.
    My selected bikes are:
    1. Honda Unicorn Vibrant Sports (black with red sticker) cost 1,66,500tk with registration.
    2. Hero Honda new CBZ xtreme (black with rear red but both black wheel) cost 1,55,500tk with registration.
    3. Again Bajaj Pulsar 2008 150cc digital (this time maroon/blue color) cost 1,62,500tk with registration.

Normally I like to ride fast but with safe. Once or twice in a month have to go long drive. I can’t decide which is going to gives best performance in all-around. Higher Speed is much appreciated. Doesn’t matter on millage per lt. I like the luxury features and looks of pulsar, big looks of unicorn (wonder why it doesn’t has the parking light and don’t like the handle and meter consol) and performance of xtreme (although don’t ride the new one). I’m 6 ft tall so pulsar gives me little uncomfortable but I have used to with it now. Could someone please tell me what are the top speed of Unicorn and new xtreme?

So all gurus from xBhp, give me some advices that help me to decide to get the best one from these.
    Adnan

Not much to choose between the Xtreme and the Unicorn top speed wise. The Xtreme is definitely more responsive and peppy than the Uni.
Vibes however are also more on the Xtreme due to the engine having a higher lift cam than the Uni.
A test ride will surely tell you which bike to plonk for

      Cheers..!!

P.S : Do try and get the Uni in the latest black or silver colours with the embossed Honda logos. They look way better than the Red-Black or Black-Red versions...

        CBZ Xtreme
+ves: Superb handling, more grunt, smooth engine, good mileage
-ves: Slight vibrations at speeds above 70kmph

        Unicorn:
+ves: Good handling, ultrasmooth engine, no vibrations even at high speeds; good mileage.
-ves: None, less peppier than CBZ extreme. Looks (not better than xtreme, my personal opinion)

Note: The engine of both the bikes is same.

Pulsar has grown old now. Apart from good milage, it does not offer any better characterstics than the competitors.

          ...
The smooth engine and the vibes actually negate each other man
The Xtreme has only vibes working against it. The handling of the Xtreme can be at best said to be at par with the Unicorn. From experience, i can safely say that the monoshock lends the Unicorn amazing handling that the Xtreme cannot beat but can certainly come close to...

I had come across the same choice 1 and half years ago and i chose the xtreme.

the xtreme does 115 approx true top speed. on the meter(speedo) would be 120+ (less than 130)

handling is as good as unicorn cause the stock suspension is very stiff. pillion comfort is quite bad

stock tyres are crap. have a tendency to skid under heavy braking. change to something better (IRC on mine) go for tubeless, they are worth it

            headlight intensity isnt adequate enough.

reliability is great i have come across problems but my bike has also done 34,000 kms in one year and 8months. used to the core. so i will consider it very reliable since it has served quite well.

efficiency of the stock bike is 55kmpl without any mods and driven at around 50-60 kmph in top gear (5th) , DO not modify it (rear tyre should be 110/80 at most and front should remain the same section (2.75) ) stock horn is weak so consider changing it.

            vibrations above 80kmph are evident,
and speeds above 80 is HELL for the pillion. the rear foorest vibrates like anything.

however i must add this bike is WELL planted at high speeds and can withstand good crosswind too

and if you ever have spare parts unavailibility just pop in parts from honda unicorn, cheaper, and quality is very good too

Go for Honda Unicorn. Look wise then Grand Prix Edition. Cbz extreme cant reach 115 kmph and its hard truth.

Go for new CBZ Xtreme man. This is the best bike now in BD. Power and handling are both good and it looks better then the previous one. Change the rear tyre to MRF Zapper Q (it is available in Bangshal) looks and handling will improve.

Another thing Xterme is a good toy if you wanna customize your bike.

PS: I am hearing remours about yamaha FZ is coming in BD. If you can wait you will not regret but expect a big price tag.

Thanks @Aryan for topic approved and also thanks to MavericK46, ravi@17bhp, Xenologik and Ansh for your reply.

At this moment Unicorn is on top of my list. This bike launched 2/3 months ago first time in Bangladesh so it is kind of new on local market but everybody knows what is Honda comes with the Unicorn. But Unicorn is the most expensive bike now than others, so this time I don’t want to make any wrong decision like what I did because if I going to get any of them, I won’t be able to change it within 1/2 years.

Thanks Mcspeed, I had one xtreme so this time I’m looking better than that but if I don’t get any then I will go for it. One of my friends talked with local Yamaha importer, they said FZ is 153cc and it trapped on procedure level of importing only for 3cc. I don’t think FZ prize will be higher than Unicorn if it is launch in bd.

Have you known that Yamaha dealer takes 3,80,000tk ($1us = 69tk) for booking of R15 and they going to import 12 more (already imported 4) and it has to go through lottery dew to many applicants. That’s totally ridiculous price I think.

Yup I know about the R15 and i think it is totally insane.

According to my source I knew that Karnaphuli Motors is lobbing with BRTA to bring FZ (Again limited number of bikes). Show room price will be 180000 TK.

                      Good luck with your search.

3,80.000 BD taka for R15 !!! are they insane or are you all insane to pay that amount ... Man and we still consider paying 100,000 INR bucks for R15 as over priced for a 150 cc bike .
If heaven doesnt allow bikes, I will ride mine straight to hell

Correct me if I am wrong, but according to the above calculation, does the R15 cost 2.75lakhs in Bangladesh? That seems too high man!

Yes that’s the price of R15. Actually they are insane, only few people can afford with this price. It is totally ridiculous.

                              @R15Rocks:
Yeah you are right and you have to pay more 16,500tk ($240us) for registration. [This amount of money we have to pay for all bikes over 125cc for registration in bd]
