@Shivanshu: I believe you mean "Honda Wing World".

@Kanishka: Please don't go to these "dealers" and get yourself a gray import. I would always say get the proper legal machines. If you do not have that much cash with you, then get a loan or something, but always go for proper official imports. That is the right way.

3-4L would not get you much of a Sbk actually! You might get a used 8-10 yr old hardly-usable 600.

I am not sure, but ill tell you what i know.
You cannot import 600cc bikes legally in india. The so many 600cc bikes you see or hear about in india came to india as spares, and were assembled locally.
Legally you can only import 800cc and above bikes.
Its best advised not to go for gray market bikes. Specially these days DRI is on their toes... so are the illegal bike owners.. its sad actually..... for the owners
sorry could not help you much... but i guess the illegal way price of bikes you mentioned must be around 6-8 lakhs...

I thought the 800cc rule was for reduced tax? What I mean is that an 800c motorcycle would have to pay less tax compared to a 600cc. I think any imported vehicle can be brought to India by paying full duty. Owning a 600c may not necessarily be illegal unless the owner has payed lesser tax. I maybe wrong.

Why dont you look for a good 400cc. There was one being sold in xbhp for 3 lakhs i guess, was a pretty well maintained model.

If your brother has been owning a motorcycle there for atleast 2 years you can import that bike with reduced tax, provided you dont sell the bike for at least one year in India. And of course for the one year in India, the bike would have to be in your brother's name.

3-4 lakhs will get you a very very old looking bike .

to get a 600 cc legal you gotta to own the bike for atleast 1 year abroad and then you can bring it here .even then you cant get its ownership transfered to your name for atleast a year

a new gray 600 cc costs around 6-8 lakhs .

If you want a new bike then wait 3 months for Ninja 250r,it may not have SBK power but it comes easily in your budget and does atleast look like a SBK

                        I thought the same too.
AFAIK, you cannot legally import a 600cc. An existing owner outside could apply for TR in India, which is the only legal way it could come here. I might be wrong too.

Yes you can. I have already said this before.

There are two ways. 1.TR = Transfer of Residence.

                          2. Paying a penalty for getting a restricted item. Penalty can vary from (if I am not mistaken) 0% to 200% of the cost and you have to pay duty over and above the penalty! Anything below 800cc is restricted. I have recently found these details since we are looking to import a 400cc Raid vehicle. Other details have yet to be worked out.

                          3. You also have to get Spec and Pollution sheet of the vehicle from the country of origin for the registration. This is post entry of the vehicle into the country.
