    just came across this.... hope people will like this.

    is something like this viable in indian bikes?? the guy in the video says that this bike has better fuel efficiency then a rear wheel drive bike. i guess its correct as hydrolics are used to spin the front wheel.

    awaiting comments from experts.

    Yes seen this video during a technical discussion with Old Fox. Quite interesting.
    The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

      Ohlins devoloped this r1 to get good traction out of corners in race track ,it has no use in street ,one the reasons it never made it to production

        I think this was featured on a Yam MX bike more than year ago.Remember seeing it in the Bike mag.That article had also mentioned Yam's plans to use the tech on to the R1's too.

            Hmm.. interesting. but he just mentions that he gets a improved efficiency in "certain " conditions.
            I wonder how it handles in a straight line on a drag basis .
            He also says it reduces the spin of the back wheel .
            IMO the efficiency on track would be hampered a bit atleast due to the add-on load on the back wheels .

              Haven't seen the video as yet, but i wonder if this machine suffers from the typical handling foibles of a FWD cage.

                but what about street?? and moreover the add-on load is divided between the wheels and the hydraulic system also.

                  What is add on load in the back wheel? It would be like the difference between a 2WD Audi and Quattro Audi. The Quattro provides a lot more confidence into corners and way better traction. Now add the benefit of the rider not having to worry about the nose lifting while accelerating hard, even more benefits out of this 2WD R1.

                  EDIT: The engine powers the back wheel, and rotation of the back wheel causes the front wheel to rotate. So its pretty much like the engine is sharing the load b/w the front and the rear tire. So I would believe there is no added load to the back wheel as such, just that the power is distributed.
