hi,i m a 17 year old guy frm mumbai...i turnd 18 on 11july,i m plaaning to get an Fz,i really love the way it looks and the broad tyres.this will be my first bike and im practically clueles on how to maintain it/how to clean it/where does the oil go etc etc...i have riden a hunk and platina a lot...i wantd this bike on my bday itself, but my frnds say that i shld wait till after the rains,n they r prolly right. could u the experiencd bikers give me advice on wat other bikes to consider/when to buy the bike/anything i must tell the showroom guy while buy etc. ,i'l prolly be using the bike to go to college n roaming about,no long trips at all prolly....any advice/guidance will be appreciated ,
another thing that worries me is once when i was on my frnds hunk n i had a fat dumb pillion,i was going very slow n a car was blockin my way, this was in a smaal lane, the car took up the whole road,so i slowd down, the car passd by,but becuz i was very slow(and inexperiencd) i kinda had trouble balancing the bike(cuz of the heavy pillion prolly) n i ended up turning the handlebars left-right-left...umm its hard to expalin, but the bike was leaning at a great angle and i had a LOT of trouble just holding the bike there.i m umm about 5feet 7-8inches....lol this may seem stupid to u guys, but yea i m a newbie to the biking world,so does the bike weight in any way would be a problm?
and another thing(dont laugh :P) umm....while riding the hunk,if i ever had to push the bike behind(while sitting),i had a lot of trouble cuz there was a slope...how to get out of such a situation? im kinda skinny so :-s ......thanks and u guys dont laugh at me lol
    budget is around 80k
    thanks~

      hey, first..welcome to xBHP..!
dont worry dude.. without any hitches go for Fz16.. its a no doubt a good bike.. about knowing certain basics on bike riding & other vital things.. just keep an eye over this community, keep on venturing through other threads like Fz16 ownership thread & more, where fellow members raise a query & other members help them. this will certainly help you lot to sum up your knowledge.
cleaning wont be of any problems for you, place to put the oil is also another easiest thing.. you soon will figure it out or can refer the manual..
About balancing the bike with a fat a$* pillion, this things will come by experience, no mathematical theorem involved.. just ride more to know more.. Ofcourse with safety..!!
i would say, dont wait till the rains go away. Should not be a problem of getting/riding a bike in rain, it will be a totally different experience & fun..

      yeah,.. a belated Happy Birthday..!

First your height should just be fine for any bike in 150 class.

Second bike weight does feel while riding at slow speed, but your choice FZ has almost 15-120kgs lesser than Hunk, so that would create a bit lesser problem while pushing back the bike.

Third while riding with a very heavy pillion your bikes gets "light front end" which means lesser stability and traction on the front tyre, so holding it inline at slow speed would be hard and that can happen at hight speed too but at high constant speed in general bike itself tries tome maintain it's line, so feel more confident at high speed. So I guess, you should just take care of sudden acceleration, sudden clutch leave which lead to more lighter front end while riding with a disproportionate pillion rider. In FZ you should feel this problem less than Hunk as it is designed with a lower and towards enigne center of mass, which makes it more planted and front heavy bike but on other side it has got more torque to do some a accidental wheelie and a light front, so try to get used to with bike's power and riding characteristic before you roam around with your friend as a pillion.

          Belated wishes KA600.
Ur choice is good. Although u can also consider the FAZER which is almost the same with better styling and a price tag of 82k on road.

Simple, I am shorter than you.

I hope ur not gonna ride everyday with ur so called fat & dumb pillion rider.
And why should we laugh at you, we all started the same way.
          All the best .

@ka600 : There is no reson why we need to LOL at you......

Have you seen Cassey Stoner.....Rossi......(dot ask me who they are - perhaps u wont)........ They do look skinny when they are compared to thier Beasts they ride on........

But still they are world champions......So Biking is not about how ur Build....Its all about how u ride.....

I would say first of all do not keep pillions and ride
Ride all alone ride for a long distance...........so that ur arms will gain more power - doesnt matter which bike u ride --- u will gain more control -- when u ride her more and more ......

All in all RTR is a perfect tool.....since ur skinny....and u have problems on handling .......with the Clip-ons in RTR....u can easily manage the bike.........and moreover it will give u more confidence that u can ride it easily at anytime......

Yes there are no Differene between Fazer and FZ except the Fairing......
There will be some approximately 5,000 - 8,000 u have to pay in extra to the X show Room price.....it depends upon ur living area ....ur service centre's strategies ( some service centre provide's accessories and extra fittings free of cost - some provide them in chargeable basis)

                      hey bro

hi man ... first let me wish you a belated happy birthday and next welcome to xbhp ... and don't worry man , nobody here will laugh at you for being a newbie to riding , everyone was a newbie at some point , so chill ... about your choice of bike , i think you should go for it , since your not really going to be touring much , the FZ is a great choice ( I personally own one ) so i can tell ... the RTR's seating position could take some getting used to ... so why don't you test ride both bikes and then decide ...

                        Here in bangalore
FZ is 75k (72.5k with some special discount of 2.5k to buyer and 500 for referrer )
RTR 180 is 73.5k to 73.8k depending on the showroom and accessories which are free.

Yes, I also feel more confident on RTR than any other bike .. mainly because of compact dimension, clip-ons which somehow helps in handling ( though I don't know how ) and lightweight (not lighter than FZ but as compared to other bikes).

I'm deciding between the FZ-S and the Fazer too

                          Hi all,

I'm deciding between the FZ-S and the new Fazer too. Although the difference comes out to ~10K with the "referral" bonus, is the fairing the only difference between the two? No difference in the seating/riding position (given that it's marketed as a tourer)?

Also, has anybody heard rumours of ~200cc bikes from Honda/Yamaha coming to India anytime soon? I could wait for it if that's a probability! The Ninja currently seems to be targeted at ~3lac OTR, so, pretty much mighty expensive!!

                          Thanks!

Dude, as far as the difference between the fz-s and fazer is concerned.... it is ONLY the fairing. U can also visit the yamaha india website to confirm. And as far a other premium bikes are concerned.... HH is rumoured to be coming up with a new karizma variant...... fully faired but the details are still a mystery. Expect the launch price of any 200+ cc bike to be above 1lakh.

I too feel that the FZ will be good bike for you and suit your needs. It s reallt excusing in terms of handling and since you are new to biking you 'll find this excusing nature of the bike very handy. The bike just sits on the ground with it's wide rear tyre and offers impecable balance my friend and without being overtly powerful she'll make a really good first bike for you my friend. This comming from a biker since 1998 and have gone thru an RX a P180 classic, Bullet electra and now happilly riding a FZs.
