  • hi,i want ur help about buying new bike

    hi everybody,
i searched in google and read a lot about bike which i was thinking to bought but didn't find one and got confused a lot rather.i don't have budget problem if bike will fulfill mine requirement i can go above 60k also.

    i have to ride daily 70 km(mainly on highway)so i want,

    1.comfort(no back pain)
    2.mileage(50kmpl minimum)
    3.long life
    4.strong body(not vibrate if i go over 60kmph speed)
    5.low maintenace

bike i was thinking to buy
1.super splendor due to 125 cc
    2.hh cbz extreme
    3.bajaj pulsar 150
    4.hh hunk
mine problem is that i read about cbz extreme that its uncomfortable for 5.7 inch people which i am.pulsor is not that good in handling as cbz extreme also mileage is low.i was thinking to go hh tag bike as i also read a lot people said that hh bike go long life with good resell value and low maintenace rather bajaj or other bike.
splendor i didn't find any big flaw but i am going to college daily so splendor is around 45-50k,i can put 60 k also if bike like cbz extreme will not have flaw like i said above.

so please suggest me what will i buy,i need to buy bike soon.
    thanks in advance.

      Suzuki GS150R (6 - Speed)
      Honda Unicorn

Both of them were not on your shortlist but both fit perfectly in your requirement.

Pulsar is not a great handler, Apaches have their vibes, Splendor, I feel is underpowered, The other HHs lack the gadgetry (What i feel. No offends to anyone.)

70km everyday on a smaller bike will get tiring , or at least boring. Since you have the 150cc Hunk and CBZ-X in your list , why not consider the Unicorn and GS150R ?

The Super Splendor is a rather plain bike, not much power or handling , sales-wise not too popular either. If you must have 125, Gladiator is most suited .

IMO, the Unicorn is the most comfortable commuter, the GS150 is the most like a Unicorn among other 150cc bikes. You can easily get 50+ average if you are not liberal with the throttle . The P150 is good , but many find it front heavy .
Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time he will pick himself up and continue on.

thanks for fast response and guide me please for ahead what to do.

As you said, that you will be mostly on the highway during your commute, the 6th gear in the Suzuki will be a boon for cruising. Also, the extra weight might just give you a more planted feel on the road (when trucks pass by). The resale though is not known for this as yet.

As for the Unicorn, It is a tried an tested commuter, with a good resale value. But, Unicorns everywhere require a lot of waiting and if instead, you opt for the GS150R, there wont be much of a waiting period. So if in a hurry, go for the Suzuki (Just another reason).

Do a test ride and decide for yourself.

I suggest the Unicorn as it is the best commuter in India IMO and is great for your height, I am sure the GS 150 is a very capable bike but have no personal experience with it. However it does have a 6th gear which makes high ride easier. I seriously do not recommend using the great long life HH bikes for highway rides.

I own GS150R. Its surely heavy and bigger than unicorn. My height is 5.7 too and weight 65kg. I personally find no problem with the weight of bike. Its as easy to handle as unicorn and the bike has more power. now every bike has some disadvantages. come on the GS150R ownership thread, then test ride the bike and decide. GS takes more time than unicorn to show its true colors -thats my experience.

i went to ask about honda unicorn at showroom, and i told them i am confused bet GS150R with unicorn,so they said first thing to me, ride both, they said comfort is more in unicorn and also maintenace wise its cheap also, they said in unicorn they didn't use digital meteres as in rainy season its risky and may be u need to change them and that cost a lot then ordinary meters in unicorn, same with tail light, its normal tail light in unicorn.mileage also better in unicorn then GS150R its also main point to choose between.

about fast buy i don't need to worry,i have to go to college since 1 october so i have enough time to buy either of the bike.

they told me about mono suspension thing that they said it comes only in unicorm in india,is that great thing then normal shock up in rear?

also the highway i am talking is not that great as i will use 6th gear on it,because u know guys every highway is not that great, name is highway but they didn't made that likewise, beside there are a lot dogs on road and cow buffalo also,so i don't think i will ride constantly at high speed,i need to ride bike like 80-30kmph in short time as obstacle came on highway.

anyway 6th gear looks good as u said, please clear mine above doubts also.

Since you have included Super Splender, i would suggest include CBF - Stunner in your list. Also you are willing to spend around 60K, you may as well look at Stunner FI.

CBF = City bike with fairing. The 60k is to spend on a good bike.. not to waste on some overpriced $#1+. (no offends to any Stunner Fi owners, personal opinion).

If he can buy a Stunner-Fi, he can also get a HH Glamour 125-PGM-Fi (Practically the same bike minus the half fairing) for much less and I should'nt even talk about service availability of a HH as compared to Honda

The CBF-Stunner PGM-Fi, I feel will not be a good buy at all when the unicorn costs almost the same as Stunner-Fi. And the added performance bonus is much higher than the 3k price difference. The Unicorn being a proven commuter will serve you well in the long run as well.

But i am sure everybody else here would agree that you should at least test ride the GS150R before making your final decision. After all its your money, its your decision.

Stunner Fi is way more than 60K. I believe it is 64,xxx ex showroom in Delhi.

check for a used KARIZMA or a new one, it rocks for commuting, and great breaking, or consider unicorn.
