  • Kothrud Suzuki, Pune experience... Verdict: Bad

After many months of savings despite of financial responsibilities, and after many discussions here on xBhp as well as offline, I finally bought an orange GS150R, from Kothrud Suzuki, Pune.

Initially, I really liked the manager's attitude, as well as the service given by the dealership. I was presented a 0% scheme of FamilyCredit bank, with following details:

    Loan amount: 30000
    Processing charges: 3100
    Interest rate: 0%
    Tenure: 18 months
    EMI: 30,000/18 = 1667.

I was buying the new bike by exchanging my old one, that's why I took this scheme, thinking it as a good scheme.

However, when I received the letter from FamilyCredit bank, it showed I am being charged 23% interest, with EMI of Rs1957. 300rs extra over 18 months adds up to Rs.5400, add the processing fee of 3100, it goes up to 8500, on a loan of Rs. 29570, which is simply ridiculous.

After calling the bank person, I found that Suzuki, while submitting my form to them, didn't specifi it was under 0% scheme, so I got the loan under normal scheme, and nothing could be done now. The Suzuki manager and the bank person both are dodging my calls from Saturday. A mail to Suzuki on this matter, as expected, went unanswered.

This matter has unnecessarily caused trouble to me. The bike is running perfect, its the dealership that is running away from its responsibility, and avoiding customer service. If the manager doesn't respond satisfactorily by today, I am thinking of going to consumer court. The question is not of 300rs, it is of trust and customer service. A mail to Suzuki, as expected, went unanswered.

I would appreciate inputs and help on this matter. Also, how do I escalate this matter to media?

You can start by checking on Indian Consumer Complaints Forum if anyone has similar complaints. You can also approach City daily papers like Pune Mirror, to highlight your plight. But i would first suggest you try to sort out the issue with the dealership, if they reject your claim then you can think about further steps.

        Dear animeher,

My little knowledge says that these loan schemes and other finances are operated on the dealership level. Company doesn't interfere with it. So thats why Suzuki India as a company didn't reply you. Sorry but I heard this name FamilyCredit bank for the first time.
The bank just wanted to 'sell' their scheme as product. The bank makes deal with showroom that whoever customer comes to buy vehicle, the showroom guys tells them about the scheme. Probably they didn't write 0 percent scheme because it was all decided before. If it was decided earlier, then both are guilty. If not, dealer is guilty and bank should co-operate with u. You can try get this to local media- like as akhilrane said Pune Mirror.

All the best. We are on your side !!! Be cool.

Update on the matter. After the dealer as well as the bank person dodged my calls great number of times from saturday, on monday a person from the dealership called, saying that this mistake is not possible from their side, and hence i should deal with the bank myself. This was too much, as I didn't contact the bank in the first place, but it was the dealer who told me the scheme.

On tuesday, i.e. yesterday, I paid a surprise visit to the dealership at 2.30pm. After 10 mins, surprisingly the manager as well as the bank person arrived at the same time, they discussed the matter amongst themselves, debating whose fault it was. FInally it was decided that my loan will be cancelled and a fresh one will be issued at 0%.

My contribution in whole above discussion was nil. I was just sitting there, watching the two gentlemen discuss my case, wondering why the hell my presence was needed in the first place.

I got a call from delhi from Suzuki, enquiring about the matter, as I emailed them too. I told the matter fully and also emailed them the same. I got the reply that they will take the matter ahead with the dealer as well as the bank.

So finally, it seems the matter will get solved. I will update the community on the same. Thanks for the support guys

But there's a lesson for everyone in your story, NEVER TRUST the dealership guys about your loan scheme or your money

write letters to all of em even bank and suzuki send by registered post, you can use reply or those letters for filing a case in consumer court. Trust me only written complaints work verbs have no value.
