my preferable brands are amaron,optima,baseterminal,... else

i also want to ask that can i fit a higher AH battery in a bike than a stock one. will it cause any harm to bike wiring or alternator charging rate.

From my experience, Amaron's best.. they also give a good warranty!!

About changing the battery to higher AH, there's no harm in doing that, but you will have to change the wiring of your bike to a newer one and that too which can handle that power!

Amaron is the best in Business which provide Maintenance Free Batteries..........They are a bit costly but worth the Price......

U can go for higher Ah batteries --- but as said ---- check for wirings and Ive heard bulds getting fused after moving to higher Ah batteries..

So if ur going for a maintenance free battery....Why need a Higher Ah batter?????????

I dont think so a higher Ah battery will Fit in the Stock Battery Compartment.......

I'm also considering the Amaron, since it is sealed&has the longest warranty period.

Exide is the worst... now followed by Amco. Most of them don't last and very often leak and gas and ruin the bike. They also have the lowest warranty... and most exides give up when they are just out of warranty. Amaron, Bosch, Base Terminal are your best options. Amaron has the longest warranty and BT scores in terms of price.

Using battery of higher Ah rating is not the best idea... esp. when the rest of the electrical stuff on your bike is stock.

Agree with you regarding Exide. I had 3 or 4 Exide Batteries failing near the warranty expiry date or just after the expiry date (Both on my Bikes & Car). On my car, I switched over to Amaron Battery and that battery lasted 7 years!!! It developed a freak fault.

The battery would suddenly go open circuit while the vehicle is running. Had to push start the vehicle and the next instant is on full charge. No problems for a couple of months. Then again suddenly the fault appears. Since this happened in heavy traffic, The battery was replaced by one of my family member with an EXIDE Battery!!!. Its 2 years now. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes dude, I'm sure you were lucky to get a good piece. But with Exides, that is the exception, not the rule. And I am not talking about an experience with only one battery...

That sure seems to be a freak problem. But the fact it lasted 7 years is very commendable. Exide and its dealers on the other hands will keep hammering into your head that bike & car batts last only 2 or at the very max 3 years; and this is normal. They will even write off a good battery after seeing that its over 2 years old! Well, the dealer has to make money too, so thats not less than expected. I myself have experienced batts lasting 7 years. Goes without saying that this also depends on how the battery is used and maintained.

Looking at the number of cases of failures within days/weeks after the warranty period seriously suggests that Exide is deliberately making batts that do not last longer. The leaking issue on the other hand seems to suggest a really shoddy product. Add to this that Exide does not even mention the technical specifications of its products like CC amps, RC, etc. And this suggests that they do not compare well with the competition.

After the Yuasa association, Amco too seems to have gone the same way. I will never forget how these sub-standard batteries have ruined the metal around it by leaking and gassing all over.

                          thanks friends,
i will check out amaron, also i have good experience with exide,
but heard some people saying that maintenance free battries are waste of money as you still need to top-up it.

No. Amaron are VRLA batteries. I believe BOSH are the same. You can't top them up even if you want to.

Base terminal is the normal type which can/has to be topped up infrequently. Both types have advantages and disadvantages. The BT I'm using is about 6 months old, but shows no drop in the level yet.

Battery life depends on many factors apart from manufacturers' credentials, self usage among bikers varies a lot. Some use 'self' judiciously and their battery last longer, and few use it all the time sometimes w/o choke such batteries will not last longer. So different bikers rate batteries differently.

I personally found OEM fitted batteries last longer and are more reliable and durable than those available in market (can't digest the fact though!). AMCO-Yuasa are really good batteries, AMCO-Yuasa OEM lasts really long very very long !!
