  • airbrush equipment: where to find?

    Hi guys!!
Last month i came across some airbrushed arts on bike and helmets and was very impressed. so impressed that i have finally decided to try this art.i have ordered for the instruction books and DVDs on airbrushing, but iam yet to find an airbrush here in jaipur.i had been to many shops here from spray paint shops to art gallery but without any success. finally i have decided to take the help of our biking brotherhood here. if any of u guys know where i can get airbrush equipment in jaipur, delhi or any other part of india, please let me know.

eBay India: European 5 pcs air tool kit / Spray Gun Kit (item 380041888176 end time 23-Aug-2009 23:57:27 IST)

I think you will also need a air compressor.

you will find lot of such stuff on amazon and other international sites. to get a rough idea.

dude you'll need more than just an airbrush , you will need a compressor and different type of paint ( either water or solvent ) and other things ... I am looking for it too but it seems too darn expensive to get from the net and if you don't have prior experience working with this stuff and spend huge cash for the wrong type , it can get really frustrating ... No offence bro , just my two cents ...

or you contact this person called shashank on orkut , who's done some really amazing work on helmets ... I believe it's his work you're talking about ...

edit:@ inder.cool : as long he's got the interest to learn it bro , it's ok , don't lose heart if you do not succeed at the first try ...

dude you can also try out local paint shops i mean car and bikes paint shops and ask where they sourced it from. They would have the Indian make of it and hence cheaper.

@ thread starter : Mind you..its a very tough job creating different designs..! You can't just pick up the stuff and start painting..all the painters who do these airbrush painting job take around 5-6 days for a small helmet paint job.

            All the best.

really nice thing if u got the right tools.
however i suspect the paint gun in that kit might be bigger for delicate designs,
i had been trying to source such stuff, getting right kind of paint metarial is not that difficult but equipment itself is an issue here....

maybe this is more like the thing ya lookin for....
happy hunting, and do post here what ya got....

If you want to get the "All Black Glossy" helmet, then for that airbrush is not required..even normal paint would also suffice your requirement. Go to any bike painter.

thanks guys for all the replies.
@ Booo: sorry bro but that is a spray paint gun, not an airbrush. but the offer on ebay is really tempting.

@ nand 15: actually i saw venice goodeve's videos. they where really amazing. thanks for suggesting shashank's name. his creations are really good. i have sent him an email.hope he will reply.thanks bro for your suggestion.

@ insane : that's the exact thing i was looking for.i got a site from where we can order airbrush and compressors in India.the company is based in Delhi

                  Air Brush

@ inder cool: bro i know its not easy and that's why i have ordered for the books and DVDS. the most important thing in spray painting is to control the spray.once you have achieved that thing rest of the things becomes a lot easier.for the artistic ones they can develop a lot of tricks and can do wonders, for those who are not so artistic there are lot of stencils that you can use and with a little bit of color sense you can make a very presentable graphic.you will be amazed at the speed with which these airbrush artists draw graphics and creatures.search on youtube you will find a lot of videos on airbrushing.damn they make it look so easy. will keep your advice in mind and will try not to get disheartned if i dont succeed in the 1st attempt.

i found a site which provides free tutorials on airbrushings.
How To Airbrush free lessons, articles, tutorials and videos.

dont know about airbrush n stuff,
but you could try using spray cans till you get your equipment

spray cans are availble for around 200 Rs.......they are available at any paintshop or you could get them on ebay

                      best of luck

^^but they are horrible for detailed work,
                        controlling pressure is difficult,
paint starts rushing out the moment you press it,(while using airbrush pressing starts airflow, pullin back paint flow )
paint quality is not good(cheap china products everywhere, starting 90rs here)
here is my first encounter with cans....
