Default Mopeds

Guys

Should there be a thread for Mopeds dedicated...we can discuss about those small machines in this thread.

I just came across a Kinetic Safari in a dying condition at a mech's garage....as a biker my heart was feeling bad for it. Though dint have much information about this bike, thought will give life for it, that had a good alloy wheel and possibly with a little amout of money this can be made to live for some more time.

Can somebody throw some light on the details about this machine....if u know, will post snaps of the bike by tmrw

Mods - Pls approve this thread as I have not seen any thread for Mopeds

I used to own a Kinetic Spark....75cc with 3 gears......The Safar wheels are not Alloy but pressed steel frame and has the same Morini of Italy engine.I think this one has a Veriomatic drive.Good reliable engine, and pickup.Parts are no longer available...If you want to resurrect this moped PowerTwin of Coimbatore will be able to help...He had resurrected and brought to showroom condition many 2 wheelers ...including Raleigh and Humber bi-cycles.....He has The most amazing and BEST collection.....see his posts in "who are you".

Ha ha ...same reason I had to part with most of my collection....First kick and see if the engine has any life....then bargain for 500/-..tell the owner you are doing the guy a favor( you are.... judging by the way he had kept it).Ensure papers are there....will not be current but the RC is important...Have a happy hunting.

Ramesh I am not into resurrection except my KB100...if i run into any old bike I will definitely keep you informed...Don't go for bikes without paper ...if it happens to be a stolen or involved in some shady activity, you will have a very bad time...

Default Mopeds....means MI

Thank you guys for starting this thread on Mopeds, which came, ruled & left green memories.
For more " Mileage" concerned Indian public, Mopeds was the best commuter for both urban & suburban .
I am proud to say A Industrialist from my place ( Coimbatore) took up the challenge of setting up a Mopeds Production unit at " Trupathi" ( AP) way back at mid '60s, in technical collaboration with MOTOBECANE of France.
& that was SUVEGA, later came Suvega deluxe, Suvega samrat etc.,
Here is a pic of early Suvega ( ckd built unit)

'am happy Till now( for past 10 months) have sourced plenty of Mopeds like Suvega s, Mofa s, TVS Expresses s, for our friends
But nothing is available for throw away prices like 1 K or 2 K, as that was the trend couple of years before from now!!
One of our Tbhpian has bought a Mofa for 25K ( just few hours before had a call from him).......but this is totally ridiculous & one guy asking 50K for a TVS Express mini ped at Kerala ( people are too greedy at times)

Muthu - I envy your collections and I appreciate your effort

I still remember those machines used by few of my known people

One of our college professors was using a Suvega (Military Green) his name was Reddy, we were used to pass comments when ever he crosses us and an other prof N Veluchamy had a Lambretta (Sky Blue / Navy). Both these bikes were in pristine conditions

Never seen them kick twice to start

Now I know the value of those machines

My dad too had a Hero Majestic for some time as a 2nd bike apart from the CL2
