Default The Bandit 1250S

WOW I never thought I'll ever write anything on this website. I heard about this website back in 2005 when one of my team members Noor Patni told me about it. I still remember some late night rough rides on his pulsar 200 cc bike and gifted him my fav riding glove. So this tells you all why I'm here and because of whom.

I had a love for suzuki bikes, riding my bike since 2002 suzuki fiero. Well my first love was my dad's Yezdi; two silencers and thumping sound always gave an adrenalin rush for a 16 year old kid then.

I visited UK back in 2005 and saw this naked bike bandit and since then I was just hoping and waiting for it come over in India. I had my apprehensions to buy a Kawasaki 250R so I don't spend too much or rather spend my entire fortune (savings of 9+ years on a bike). I thought people might think I have gone nuts to buy a 9+ lac on road bike.

Well I should say Xbhp's ride to the highest motorable point inspired me and convinced me that this is it...this is my baby and I should just go for it.

Showroom Basement!!! Just before delivery.

So I bought it on 4 april and rode it for good 2 months before I'm posting this on the website. Now I can talk about my first crash and the money I spent on it. My first service, my first rain ride (was scared), my first wheeling (it just happened, i mean i never tried doing it) and loads. 2000 + kms, riding it everyday to work; well these things happen

I bought this bike and wanted to test it; so decided I'll go on a long ride. I left home took deliver of my bike and then drove 150 kms to reach Mysore Chamundi Hills. One hell of a ride and tested my bike like speed freak touching 220 kmph.

Above on my way to Mysore and it's a mobile snap, not very clear.

On top of Chamundi Hills mysore. Right in front of Goddess in her door step.

So day one I had done 350+ kms and people at my home were wondering where I went to get my bike delivery . Above pic was taken after this ride.

Well now I was convinced that my dream had been reliazed and I now have a mean machine with me. I just love the gears compared to any superbike (1000cc+ in my definition)...I can go to 6th gear at 45-50kmph on flat road and may be 55-60 kmph if the road is inclining. So for our indian mentality of checking mileage it returns a good one. I'll reveal it later in this message.

Sipping coffee and admiring my bike. On my way to work.

My work timings give me empty roads as I have to reach office by 7am and leave office by 4pm . I started riding this bike everyday to work and it was fun to ride. More fun to answer people's questions...Is it 1 lakh? How much Mileage? Does it have a carburetter? What is the weight? Well some of them ...why did you buy this bike, if I say how much it is then "are you crazy"...LOLs. Two months now I can say I've met them all.

Riding in traffic also gives some cheap thrill especially when you have our Indian bike riders trying to compete with you and you go through the corners doing 120 kmph...it's a cheap thrill I told you; but it's fun. I don't think I take risks in traffic to prove a point

Rains started and here I was standing in a signal. It went green and I moved my bike in first gear...santro car jumped a signal and touched my bike...there I go down and it's my first crash. I almost started crying; with great difficulty lifted my 250 kilo bike and saw the indicator gone and slight scratch on the engine. Bike didn't start and kept flashing a light on the dial. My heart was in my mouth for good 2 minutes and then the bike ignited... AH!!!! it was as if my second life. Now I started feeling the pain in my right hand near my elbow and I realized it's a small bruise. Well the indicator and brake lever had a small crack; decided not to claim insurance. It costed around 3-4 grands for both of them did a mistake not claiming insurance.

Time for servicing and it costed me around 6.5k for everything. It's not free service like indian made bikes. They change engine oil and lubrication mainly. Gears were much smoother now and it felt good and mileage checking time!!! Well we are obsessed with ain't it? It gives me around 18 kmpl in city traffic and around 24 on long rides. It depends largely on how you ride and what speeds you do. City rides of 40-50 kmph with empty strecthes touching 150kmph; it's giving me 18 kmpl. Long rides of 120-140 KMPH and an occasional stretch of 220 Kmph gives me around 24 kmpl. Hope this gives a picture of my riding style. It's very rare that I throttle on first few gears...I mostly increase on 5th or 6th; that make a lot of difference.

Bought some good riding gears from Bachoo - Rjay's 100% waterproof jacket with a removable liner. It's an awesome thing to wear in hot summer as you remove the liner it's 100% breathable. Rain rides have been a bit scary initially for me as the bike was heavy and high speed braking on bangalore roads have not been good. Few quick spins and skids while braking on wet roads but nothing major to worry as you get used to it...after all it rains every week in bangalore.

OFF THE HOOK: ridersdiscount website is also a good place as most of the branded stuff are less expensive and you pay only 25$ for parcel service or postage. It's worth it if you are buying a lot of items.

Overall it's an awesome bike; giving you a pleasant riding position. Daily use or long rides or a short burst before going to sleep. It never says NO. No backaches ...good in corners (if you know how to tilt a superbike properly) and value for money in my opinion. Well, everything here is my experience not opinion...

Here are some pics

Added a few more pics and proof read it to correct my mistake

I don't ply around these areas and well there are many Bandit's in Bangalore now. I guess mine is third if I'm not wrong. And most of them ride it every day. Also if I'm not wrong there is only one black bandit in Bangalore which was about to be delivered when I went first service .
