Default My Unicorn Reclaimed its LIFE

Hi Friends,
I was conscious about smooth driving and wanted a Bike which has excellent pick up with a decent mileage (50-55kmpl), a real pleasure while driving and comfort levels no back pain – The one and only bike was HONDA Unicorn.
I bought the dream machine in 2005 done 40000kms till now I am riding this bike since 3yrs and seriously it's very pretty (smoother than butter) engine drives me crazy whenever I ride this bike....
It’s a street fighting machine from the makers of fire blade, CBR. It strengthens us to fly high otherwise known as silent attacker or fighter bird. Its mono suspension can change any hard road smoother. Noiseless engine does not feel like it is started when ON.
Unicorn is good example of engineering magic, smooth, stylish with good average and with low care
A Complete mouthshut performance of a WING RIDER

My Bike was ported thrice in couple of years for normal use and also undergone many tunings during my 2006 Ucal-Rolon 150cc Championship. When decided Racing is not future engine was set back to street racing conditions. During normal use the Bike was ripped very badly (My mistake gone too crazy ) which resulted in a Bore seize and broken rings with a rotten piston. It was completely dead.
My bike is always serviced by one of the top superbike tuner in INDIA called Shiva (333 Racing) in Chennai, he is the tuner for even Dilip Roger’s Yamaha. I take my bike to Chennai once in a year for a full service. Yet again I dropped my bike in Chennai to reclaim its life. I know that my Doctor (Bike mechanic) would do something extraordinary. He took almost two months to do a complete engine re-work.
Below are few changes in my bike –

1) New Parts Installation –
Boar with Piston & Rings, Clutch, Valves, Timing Chain, Bearings, Packing kits and few other Engine parts
Front Mud guard, Front Tyre - MRF 2.75-18 Zapper FS & Rear Tyre – Dunlop 120/80 -16
Full Size Engine Scoop & Half Size Chain Guard
Disk Pad/Rear Break Shoe, Tail Set, Rear Foot pegs, Tiny Indicators
Automatic Chain Adjuster, Chain Sprocket set
Motul 20W/40 Engine Oil
2)Paint Job and Sticker Works on Fuel Tank, Tail Set, Inner Disk, Engine Scoop, Front Fork, Handle, chain guard ...

3)Other Stuff -
Complete Engine work (Crank Shaft Reset, Valves, and Bearings), Silencer Carbon removal, Front Fork Lubrication

Now after the re-work the bike has done 2000kms did not cross more than 60kmph in order to set the engine, will continue to do the same till it completes 40000kms. I am very happy with the stuff done by my Bike’s Doctor, the machine is now in excellent condition running like a CAT on a CARPET.

Glad to know that there are people who take the Unicorn seriously and mod it to get the performance it deserves
Ive heard people ranting about the smooth engine, noiselessness etc, but seldom does one see a remark about its handling capabilities..

It would be nice if you could share some experiences of yours on the track with your Uni

P.S : Could you shed some light on the way a Uni behaves around the track wrt its handling..
Im still atleast a couple of years away from being able to afford a trackday..
Surely there are more people out there who would be in the same position.. So please do post your experiences..
Cheers..!!

I just came across the same situation like yours. I wanted to do a write up about what I had just experienced with my unicorn and you just finished it !

Yes. My unicorn is also 40000kms run. I wanted to do something to revive it badly. I had quite a few problems. I took it to the same Siva (333 Racing). He has been my bike's doctor for the past 8yrs starting from my Saffire, Victor and Unicorn(Current). He is the best doctor. He revamped my whole bike. Complete engine work and with powering too. I had problems with my Disc brake as the old kalyani disc set was giving too much noise. I had to change the battery too since the self-start wasn't working.

He has done an excellent job. He took 2 weeks. Now the bike's mid range torque is amazing seriously. I want to set the engine like you said for few thousand kms.

Cheers to Siva and Honda! Now I can really ride my bike again for 40k-50k kms more without any revamp!

"Actually he was telling me that he was working with an unicorn from bangalore. Must have been your bike "

I opted for Stock Sprocket and Drive Chain this time, previously it had Customized Sprocket (Lesser Teeth) for better Initials. Now I was very keen to get back my Uni to Stock condition hence did not perform any mods. After huge changes now the Fuel Efficiency is 55kmpl. Total Cost Involved was Rs18000/-.

Default Hey CBR

Your Correct Shiva is the Best Bike Doctor, I Rather State he is the best Tuner also. I change the Engine Oil every 2000 kms and lubricate the Air Filter myself every Three months as a normal service because i never give my Bike to any local mechanic (in Hosur). I trust only Shiva and greatly Satisfied with his Excellent work and hence I drop the bike once in a year riding to Chennai from Hosur for a complete service. After a month I pickup my Bike riding back home. Iam Doing this since i bought the bike, Its even not serviced in showroom.
