NO, NOT OK
change to 20W50 or 15W50. dont run the bike where the second number is less or more than 50 & first number is more than 20

No, not okay. Use a 20w50 oil instead.

He will be riding mostly on high ways @ 70 - 80 max. (just like me )
What figures should I tell him..?
around 35 kmpl or may be a bit more

Default Help!!

Guys....help me out...

am planning to buy the beast(F)....probably in next 3-4 weeks..,

However, I have 2 seniors at work who bought the 220Fi some 3 yrs back, now these guys have a very negative feedback about the bike in terms of its reliability...one of them had his exhaust come out while on a trip to hyderabad...other recently had to replace his crankshaft..., according to them
"
Quote:
the bike will run good for a year or so...and then things will start loosening/coming off, performance will go down...etc etc"
they did say that when it works its a lot of fun
also these 2 are the kind who care about their bike, they maintain it well and ride it hard

now this has got me concerned, I know its not the smoothest bike out there (one of the fastest though...), I can put up with vibration/minor issues but the issues these guys have had (I have quoted only 2, there are more).....

I know this depends a lot on how you maintain it, I would maintain it well but I like to ride hard(heavy throttle hand).....keep it at high revs, and am looking forward to touring on it i.e. maintaining high speeds for long times....

so I would like an opinion from you guys......particularly from those who own it for a year or 2...are their really big issues....am having second thoughts....help!!

would appreciate any help....

P.S. no offense to the mighty 220..

Fz-S/Fazer, or if I can stretch my budget(very low probability)...R15...don't want a ZMA
also some people say that 180 is a smoother/more reliable bike than 220...maybe that......
haven't thought much about it though....had already made up my mind....

1.ok then are you much into touring ??

if yes....remember fz-s is a naked and fazer is good (mind you both NOT at all on par with the p220...and R15 would be better only if you are totally into touring(but with that amount you always rethink )...i personally would recommend the p220 if your not touring much...

2.and for how long do you wish to own this bike ??

if you have plans of changing bikes now and then...then any pulsar will do...180/220 both are pulsars !

If you could stretch your budget, why not a ZMR as tis a perfect tourer & a reliable product from Honda?

After owning th e beast for a year and a month, i have ridden this bike on every kind of road.. also rode it at places with no road. Never felt the need to give any extra effort for maintaining it... Just the timely service and regular oil change..

but, this is my personal experience... cant comment on what others say..
