^^ You need only two things

Money - to buy the bike
Patience - to own a pulsar

Normally, the average before first service remains high as we are careful not to rip the bike before first service and hence the high mileage. After first service, a bit of fun happens and mileage tends to drop. You are still getting respectable mileage, in my opinion.

Exactly. It also happend with me on my brother's new RTR 180. After 1st service, there has been a drop in mileage but then there has been increase in twist-the-wrist treatment to the bike.

And yeah, overall mileage of 40 for the P220 is quite good.

Moreover the PBK in baroda doesn't have a separate svc. Hell! i am thinking of writing a complaint to Bajaj if i don't get proper service tomorrow.
DUDE!! Do check if there IS any oil in the chamber.... B'cos the only things they do at 1st service is:-

1) Change the oil
2) Clean oil strainer
3) Lube the chain(If you tell them to)
4) Solve all minor niggles you might be having.

No stuttering in my bike as such.. but whenever i m trying to pick up from zero speed(slowly) in 1st gear, the bike feels as if it is in 2nd not 1st.. u know.. due to lack of power... or something else.. i really dont know.. Which fuel are you using?

Baroda PBK sounds like a proper Fu**ed up SVC Station..

P.S.: I get 41KMPL constant on both city / highway on Shell Super Petrol

As i was considering praful's opinion of changing oil at 700kms, i asked them not to change the oil and hence i don't think there should be any probs there. I saw him greasing the chain and had asked him to specifically check the Air-fuel mix because i am getting somewhere around 30kmpl mileage. Dunno what he did but i am getting a rattling sound akin to a loose silencer bolt (i remember hearing the same sound in my victor when it came back after an engine overhaul and the mechanic didn't tighten the silencer screws properly). Let's see what the Bajaj ppl do tomorrow morning otherwise i'll complain to the regional office.
I am using the normal petrol as i was advised not to use high octane fuel
And about that lack of power in your bike..... is that problem around 1800rpm??

Check for any scratches on tank or front fairing, Start the bike and rev to about 4000-5000rpm and hear for any vibrations, also insist on a small ride before selecting the bike and see if it rolls without any jerks and do check for brake sounds.
Congratulations and post some pics too.
Cheers
