Other brands like Veedol, Gulf, Petronas etc have also been mentioned. So if you can find a properly rated oil (xW50) with JASO MA certification, go for it and let us know how it does. You will not hurt your engine if you follow these two requirements.

These are the most well known on XBHP and a lot of people use them or have used them. I'm currently using 5100 15W50 and it works like a charm, should last for about 2500-3000km. Yes, I know Bajaj gives the oil change interval for the 220 dtsi as 5000km, so be my guest and see if oil lasts that long. Personally, I would change it after about 2500km for SS and 5000 to 6000 for FS.
There was one person here who faced the problem of oil seal leakage upon shifting to fully synthetic. Did you face such problem while you changed the oil to SS?

There are no issues with oil leakage when switching to SS. It's anyway mostly highly refined dinosaur juice with a healthy dose of synth oil mixed in. The experience is very rewarding though. Vibes are much less, the engine revs more easily. Gear shifts are easier and smoother. At approx Rs 400 per liter I think it's the best value for money you can get for your P220. The typical Castrol Active from the SVC doesn't even last for 500 km, after that the vibes creep back in and the gearshift goes hard and edgy. Right now I'm about to cross that mark on this oil and it still feels good.

Default Got my bike!!

Hi guys,

I got my bike today, finally!!! I had booked it on the 8th of Feb from Pune PBK. I got the 2010 model, this model does not have the 'F' sticker on the fairing, instead it has 220 F written across either sides of the tail. I got the zappers as the tyres thankfully.

Initial ride review... awesome!!!!! Its really smooth, the gear box is smooth too. Hard to keep it under 60. Finding neutral is tough but that should be perfected in a few days. Mirrors are no good and vibrate a lot, have to keep adjusting my arms to see the view in the mirror. No vibes from the fairing as yet.

I will be adding the rim stripes from Yamaha in a few days. Any suggestions of what colours will look best on my black beast?

according to ngk site the 220dtsi should have a 8eix and 9eix spark plugs...but many pbk mechanics are saying that both the plugs should be the same...any comments here???

cause my exhaust was making misfiring sounds and when he cleaned the tip of my plugs today, the coughing sounds stopped....
