Exclamation Motorcycle Speed Record broken with a turbocharged Busa.

Motorcycle Speed Record broken with a turbocharged Busa.

A NEW motorcycle top speed record was set at 311.945mph. The record was set at the Loring Timing Association's land speed races held at the Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine.

Bill Warner of Wimauma, Florida hit a speed of 311.945 mph on his turbo-charged 1299cc Suzuki. Although faster speed have been obtained from 'streamliner' motorcycles, where the rider is enclosed in the vehicle, this is the fastest speed obtained on a conventional motorcycle.

The previous speed record was set at 278.6mph last October by Warner himself. He said his current motorcycle was 'built for speed and that's what it did'. A man of few words, then.

Records are meant to be broken. Who said that I wonder, but he or she was definitely right. This is some 520+ kmph that he touched on a motorcycle.

I believe that we may lose some people, if the madness continues. No matter how long you make the swingarm or what riding gears you use, it will only require a single front wheel shake to shake one's life. There should be a time when you should say "enough is enough". And personally speaking, its about time...

It is 499.112 kmph...

But yea it is insane... Also as long as they do it on a track under controlled conditions I don't think these speeds should be a problem...

Dude, better get some respect for the bloke who acieved this feat (502kmph). turbocharged or NA, "under closed conditions" notwithstanding.. this is indeed quite a feat. it actually beats the Veyron on the top speed thingy. !!!

See the video here:

Actually, when you said, "As long as they do it on a track under controlled conditions I don't think these speeds should be a problem...",
you actually made it sound a lot easy than it actually is. I'm not blaming you, but that's what we perceive.
Even the earlier record was Warner's too.

No matter how long your swingarms are, or how flat the ground is, 500 kmph is a remarkable achievement on 2 wheels, that I respect.
But, now he should go home and love his wife... Enough with speed!

This were Warner's comments on the record:

Quote:
"The bike was bouncing, hopping, skipping and sliding," Warner said. "Needless to say, I got it stopped safely. It was a little scary."
Now, its more easy to imagine 500 kmph. Ain't it?

I can never imagine 500+ speeds as I do not think I have the control or capability or the balls to ever achieve them... I do respect the bravery of these people...

By insane I didn't mean to say that he is insane in achieving a record, but the SPEED is insane... (I don't know if I am again explaining it correct...)

Also when I said "shouldn't be a problem" it was not to say that the feat is easy... It was in response to your statement saying "There should be a time when you should say "enough is enough"."... Hope its a bit clearer now...
