KTM Duke 200 launched in Malaysia

KTM Duke 200 has been officially launched in Malaysia by none other than the Malaysian Prime Minister, Mr Najib Razak. At an event held in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, Austrian motorcycle manufacturer, KTM launched their Duke 125 and Duke 200 variant. These variants are specially manufactured for the Asian market, including India.

KTM Duke 200 will be imported as CKD and will be assembled at their unit KTM Motonation in Malaysia. KTM Duke 200 is scheduled to go on sale in 2012 with a price tag of approximately Rs 1.1 – 1.35 lakhs.

Once launched, KTM Duke 200 will compete with the newly launched Honda CBR250R in the Indian market. It will also compete with Yamaha's new R15 which is scheduled to be launched on 6th September.

KTM will enter Indian bike industry in collaboration with Bajaj Auto. Once again Bajaj plans to start a price war as compared to competitors, KTM Duke 200 will be priced very low. The video below was shot at the live event in Kuala Lumpur, jump to 2:17 in order to watch Duke 200 unveiling.

earlier, there were reports from Bajaj side that they will launch it during the Auto Expo, but who knows they might launch it earlier to kill the new R15 just as they did it with the Hyosung GT650

you don't even need the bike to be launched for them to reveal the tech spec; sometimes you don't even need the bike to exist for them to reveal its tech specs.

The switch gear is the same as the Pulsars. Moonlight display on the icons. Did Bajaj use the stuff from KTM or is it the other way round?

According to the link in the 1st post of the thread..

It will cost 15k-18k RM(Malaysian Ringgit)
Which comes out to be...2.3-2.7lacs in Rs.

But it is gonna be a CKD in Malaysia...so In India it should cost around 1.5-1.75Lacs Rs

The no. of units sold in malasya will be lesser, so larger profit margin is maintained... so higher price over there...
Moreover in india, there is more competition coming so they have to price it competitively... hence it will be definitely below 1.5lacs...
