Default New KTM 690 Duke prototype

Source: Motorcycle News UK | Motorbikes | MCN

The world's most powerful single-cylinder bike will get more refined and yet more powerful next year, an MCN world first ride has revealed.
MCN rode a prototype version of the 2012 KTM 690 Duke months before it will be seen in finished form, when the Austrian company hopes it will encourage younger riders to move from smaller capacity machines like its new 125 Duke onto middleweights.
Besides being the most powerful single-cylinder road bike when it goes on sale in 2012 with around 70bhp it’s also going to be one of the most advanced. It will feature a twin-spark cylinder head, ride-by-wire throttle, the option of Bosch ABS and – crucially – a price of around £6000.
KTM is also pioneering a new structural fairing and subframe on the new Duke where aluminium alloy is diecast under high pressure to form a sidepanel and the subframe; reducing weight and components.

Love the looks what a meaty looking exhaust!! Reminds me of P220

The original flat tank seems to have got the boot.. the new tank looks so much simiar like the 125/200 Duke.

It seems like Bajaj conveyed to KTM why older Duke 690 could never be a success:

1. The price was too high for a single 654cc, specially considering Ninja 650's entry,
2. The styling had a scope for improvement, even by naked bike standards,
3. The wheelbase seemed too large in the earlier version, it seems smaller here,

Guys, this is a 150 kgs machine which will make 70PS... A very rare combo to beat even abroad. What is 150 kgs? P220's weight? It's a joke of a weight for so much power.

So, with a price of 6000 GBP, the route to India seems more clearer, although still there's a doubt whether it would be imported or made here. If imported, how and from which country?
