Source Link ---------------------------------- If this technology finds its way into mainstream automotive I think it would be a game changer...

Wow, very cool. As a standalone technology, it is very good.
Although, I wonder if the future is electric, what would be my (the rider's) role? One day GPS based systems will take you everywhere you want with 99.XX% of safety, and all aspects including braking, accelerating, shifting being electronic, would the rider's role only be to press an emergency stop button, if at all? ![]() Although yes, this wireless system is overall good, but what are the benefits over a conventional system? Our Disk brakes work just fine, with quick response, high braking potential and so. So, I guess it should be for bicycles only? |

My bluetooth headset has so much trouble maintaining link with my handset even at 30 cm distance at Line of Sight on the road due to interference from millions of powerful radio sources : Television Stations, FM Stations, CDMA Towers (850 MHz), GSM Towers (900 /1800 / 2100 MHz), Bluetooth Connections of other users, WiFi Networks (2.4 GHz), WiMax Networks (2.3 / 2.5 GHz), High End Cordless Phones (45 / 900 / 2400 MHz), DECT Phones (1700 / 1900 MHz), CB Radio, Police Radio, Ham Radio; the list goes on and on! I doubt the electromagnetic pollution can come down any soon. Now why would I ever rely on my brakes to function normally using wireless radio technology? Even on my bicycle?

Okies jokes apart, as per me the power of our BT Headphones is mere 10mW so its bound to be affected dude. These wireless systems will atleast radiate 60-80mW to provide a strong link ![]() Quite feasible for mo-bikes as well ![]() The only thing is that there should be provision for wired brakes too incase the battery goes dead then? toast :P

That would quite defeat the purpose, won't it...? How about loud beeping sounds when the batteries reach 10%...?

Say the battery is gonna die in 30 mins and by any means you cant reach a place where you can charge the battery in 30 mins then? The wired brakes will be helpful. Its like having cruise control in a bike isnt it? You will use it as per your convenience right? All CC enabled cars dont always use CC do they? Its upto the driver like we have a switch on some bikes for turning off the ABS/TCS right? Similar to that manner

Rather have a battery meter which shows the exact percentage ala your cellphone... So when if you are going on a long ride and the batteries show 30% just carry extra batteries in your backpack...
