Default Bad drivers caught on film as helmet cam sales double

Bad drivers are increasingly likely to have their antics caught on camera and posted online as more and more motorcyclists routinely use helmets cameras.

Sales of the devices have doubled in two years and risen 40% in the last 12months according to retailers.

The small cameras can be stuck to side of helmets with suction cups and record up to two hours on a battery charge.

One rider has created his own YouTube ‘channel’ with over 1000 subscribers and uploaded a string of videos shot in London called ‘Near Miss Stupid Drivers’.

One shows a black cab almost knock the Suzuki DRZ400 rider off as he swerves into his lane while speaking on his mobile phone. Moment later, the cab driver leans out of the window, phone still at his ear, and asks: “What did I do?” and the rider tells him his registration number is on film.

Matt Taylor, Marketing Director at ActionCameras.co.uk said: “Motorcyclists are now using helmet cameras a lot.

"Sales of the devices have increased by over 100% in the last two years."

Mark Nelson, MD of Dogcamsport.co.uk, said: "We’ve seen easily a 40% increase in helmet camera sales in the last 12 months alone and helmet suction mounts are the most popular accessory."

Other videos show cars pulling across bus lanes, driving on the wrong side of the road, nearly sideswiping bikes on the motorway and even deliberately swerving towards riders.

This is really a good way to stop rash drivers and can be very helpful for cops in case of casualties by hit and run drivers.

I dont think the long arms of law is gonna go about clicking youtube links. But doesnt london already have a ton of cameras on the road? And what is the point of blurring the number plate if you want to screw the driver? moral upper hand eh?

All this is part of everyday life for a indian rider.

Far better than everyday Indian roads anyways. If those riders from London come here then they will bang their heads on our roads and suicide .

Man, are those chaps fussy! One pedestrian (cute one, too) and they're all "OMG, that's so dangerous"?

Bring that guy to Bangalore. We'll man him up. We have wrong way traffic, pedestrians (human/bovine) in the fast lane, lunar craters, people on two cellphones and people jumping dividers and dashing across the road just when you start to relax. We also have heat and dust if he's into that sort of thing. Tcha, sissies.

That's right. Send that guy here ASAP. He should take our "Crash" course in Indian Riding. Then he'll know how damn lucky he is to live in UK.

We want such Cameras here! And no, not at the rate of Rs. 10,000 for each pair... Guys, any options except for attaching big camcoders to our lids?

In the case of the second footage posted-its the classic case of not looking for motorcycles.

Recently saw a clip of a Biker waiting at a red signal and a cars runs over his foot and then jumps the signal-the biker chased him but he wouldn't stop and then another car helped him stop that guy later on-and i guess the clip was used for the police report too.
