Default Bajaj Auto sells over 10 million motorcycles on DTS-i Platform

Mumbai, November 29, 2011: Bajaj Auto today achieved a landmark sale of 10 million units of motorcycles based on its patented DTS-i - ‘Digital Twin Spark Ignition engine technology. This revolutionary technology was first introduced by the company on its Pulsar brand in 2003 and was later incorporated in the Discover portfolio.

DTS-i engines incorporate two spark plugs as against the single spark plug in other two wheelers. A single spark plug engine provides a spark at only one end of the combustion chamber while the DTS-i engine provides two - one each at either end of the chamber, resulting in faster and more efficient combustion with almost no wastage of precious fuel. The end result is superior performance without any compromise on mileage.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. K. Srinivas, President Motorcycle Business, said, “We started using the DTSi technology on the Pulsar and eventually used it in all the Discover models. This technology has contributed substantially to our leadership in the Sports segment and also in creating a differentiated offering in the commuter segment. At a time when fuel prices are sky rocketing our DTS-i technology has proved extremely beneficial to our customers”

The advent of this technology has changed the face the of the two wheeler industry in the country.

Smile Dream run for Bajaj.

Wow! Astonishing. Pulsars took the Indian market by storm!!!
Waiting to see the new Pulsar in flesh.... Wish they keep up the good work.
Wanna see a 300+cc mill from the Pulsar brand sometime in future.

Yes I am happy that Baja has reached this milestone. Having said that it has been a long time for the Pulsar brand and there has not been a dramatic change in the way the bike looks. I hope Bajaj decides to go a little more radical now and experiements with atleast one such cutting edge bike maybe in the 250 cc or 400 cc category.

Recently, I rode my Pulsar 180 UG3 a bit better than earlier due to fuel expenses being in my hand now, remaining around 50-60 kmph most of the time. The Mileage? 56 kmpl on the next full tank. Can you believe that?

For a second I rechecked my calculations, but was later convinced of this.

DTSi may have few disadvantages, but its surely a fuel saver. Even when TVS Flame lost the twin sparks, its performance was fine but highway mileage came down from a high 80~ kmpl to some 74~ kmpl.

All credit to Bajaj, they came a long way since first Pulsar is launched and the next gen Pulsar is just around the corner. Hope the speculated new tech will prove to be equally stellar success for Bajaj.

Great going, Bajaj!!

DTSi technology surely has added certain spunk in the machines but more than the DTSi tech, Bajaj should be applauded for bringing a variety in terms of motorcycle building approach in the country.

I am doing the same on my 220 Dtsi due to high fuel price, and mileage seems to be inching towards 40 kmpl in city.
