TVS Motor sales drop by 5%

TVS Motor Co. reported a drop in sales in the month of April 2013. Sales in April 2013 stood at 165215 units as compared to 174455 units in the corresponding month in 2012. Two wheeler sales were 160502 units. Domestic sales were 142794 units. Motorcycle sales remained flat, while scooter sales fell. The three wheeler segment of the company continued growing steadily at 62%.

They may be doing impressive sales.. probably Ray or R15 v2.0 due to looks.

But honestly, very disappointed in what they are NOT doing after selling track bikes to people.
KTM is going the right way with orange days (track days) ... while Yamaha has left r15 to pappu-babblu-tapplus to drive zigzag and show off in public.

Not just that, absolutely no aftermarket parts .. not even brake levers.. no race stand, no side spoolers ... no nothing.

My fav team of MotoGP and one of the fav companies when it comes to bikes is absolutely disappointing me with what they are doing in India.

yamaha exports are growing, good. i guess they are now exporting R15. correct me guys if i am wrong. just wanted to be sure.

yamaha is like a one film wonder hero/heroin, back in the old days it was RX100 & RD350 and now its R15 & FZ. it seems its their strategy never to launch more than two successful models.....lol..

Exactly. Aftermarket parts missing in Yamaha. Even waiting for a 250cc machine from Yamaha & Fz needs to be upgraded too. Since years, Yamaha has just been changing its Colours every year

There are nearly 14-15 colours in the Fz-s.

Every 10-11 months, there 4 new colours in Fz-s. (excluding those minor upgrades like, wider seat, full chain cover, new grabs).
A 200 cc version of Fz should be launched.
But showoff? Buddy Yamaha has started the advancement of 150cc segment in india.
R15 according to me still is the Best 150 cc machine in india. Unmatched performance, Best looks.

Lol man, better google something than expressing your views . For R15 , there's R15 championship, conducted by Yamaha themselves.
And about aftermarkets, they have brake levers, rim strips, mass cylinder cap, exhaust and cam with bigger disk, all provided by Daytona, and sold by Yamaha themselves. Have the cheapest race stands too.
In better, no company sells aftermarket parts through their dealerships in India like Yamaha does (for R15 and FZ only ofcourse).
Can you tell me another manufacturer selling FFE and parts that improve performance ??

I'm not surprised by Yamaha's growth, even FZ is commanding a waiting period now(atleast here). The Ray too are all over the roads.

The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp today reported 9.51 per cent decline in its total sales at 4,99,113 units for April this year. In the same month last year, it had sold 5,51,557 units, Hero MotoCorp said in a statement.

The Japanese two-wheeler major Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) have bucked the trend. HMSI posted record sales of over 2.49 lakh units in April 2013 growing by over 29% year on year.

Bajaj Auto April sales down 10%; sees higher May sales

India's second largest two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto 's total sales in April declined 10 percent year-on-year to 3.44 lakh units, as sales remained sluggish in the domestic market and exports also slipped.

Its total motorcycle sales fell 12 percent to 3.01 lakh units, the Pune-based company said on Thursday.

Three-wheeler commercial vehicle sales in April, meanwhile, rose 10 percent 43,351 units.

Total exports tumbled 23 percent to 1.30 lakh units, last month.

Hero MotoCorp , India's top two-wheeler maker had on Wednesday reported 10 percent decline in April, while TVS Motor 's sales were down 6 percent in the domestic market. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India meanwhile saw its sales last month gain 31 percent in the domestic market.

Bajaj Auto's MD Rajiv Bajaj told CNBC-TV18 he expects sales in May to be higher than April. The recent sales trends at its rivals suggest, consumers are shifting from Hero to Honda, he added.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India reported a 30.54% increase in sales for April 2013. The total sales in April 2013 was 259560 units as compared to 198831 units in the same month last year. Motorcycle sales grew by 51%, while scooter sales grew by 16%.

Even after the split up from Honda, The Hero still remains King

in sales, selling close to 5 Lakhs vehicles per month

When Yamaha Launched the R15 in 2008, they did great job with already a great bike.

They conducted all expenses paid Races for R15 owners at MMSC Race track (and not a gokart tracks as KTM does). This includes transporting your bike, transporting you and providing food all for free. You just needed to get your gear and some time.

There are good amount of after market parts for R15 already.

Yamaha has done their part by doing all this stuff and current lot is learning from them.
