Recently it was reported that the Husqvarna factory might be on the verge of closing down, with its entire production staff been asked to leave. The future of this iconic off road motorcycle brand is indeed tottering.
During the ownership of the brand by BMW, three road going models had been developed. The Husqvarna Nuda 900, Strada 650 and the Terra 650. Since the engines have been developed by BMW, the brand will continue to be dependent on BMW. Something, which no company would want after a sale. The road bike section of the brand will be discontinued as the new owners do not have the funds, time or inclination to invest in it.
With very few option left for Stefan Pierer, the future could see either, the brand being merged into KTM/Husaberg or being shut down completely.
